It's heart breaking to hear the news regarding the death Antonio Puerta. He was one of the most promising young soccer players of Spanish football, and had a great career in front of him. It's extremely devestating that such a bright young man has passed away with so much yet ahead of him.

    Rest in peace Antonio.

I don't mean to bitch but why did you create this thread here? It has nothing to do with Real Madrid so you could have created in the Andalucia or the NSR.

My condolences to FC Sevilla. I can't believe a tragedy like that happened. I was watching the Sevilla-Getafe match live and I saw when he collapsed. I thought it was nothing major because he regained his consciousness and walked out of the pitch by himself. This is sad sad sad....

Its not that i don't feel for Puerta's family and all but there is a discussion about this in the Transfer thread, Other Teams' Results and in the Andalucia forum so creating numerous threads about it in every forum is silly.

    Dear Sevilla Fans,

We, the ultrAslan(Galatasaray SK) fans, are sharing your sorrow for the decease of Puerta. We are very sorry for his death. He was a young brilliant player and it is unfair to lose him at this age.

We all know that he is smiling to you all from above. We hope that we dont hear any other death of another player in the world.

    Yours sincerely,

    ultrAslan

What's up with you -FC-? Come on, my friend. :(

It's up to the mods, but I wouldn't have a problem with this being in our main forum for the next week or so. It is soccer related, it is La Liga related, it does affect Real Madrid and all of Spanish football, and it's good to have a place to talk about this rather than in our Other Teams Results.

    ----

I am very sad about this. But I do know from having lost an athlete friend who knew he had a similar condition yet continued to play, that surely Puerta was living his life and doing exactly what he wanted to do. I don't know if he knew how severe his situation was, but he was playing football at the highest level on one of the world's great teams. If you're a footballer, besides your family and friends, what else is there? What a tragedy that he couldn't go on, he was so young. :(

Prayers for his family and his girl and for the little baby-to-come.

    Rest in Peace, Antonio

Come on... I think everyone is impressed. I don't find it silly but a beautiful gesture and a little tribute from this virtual group of people that we are.

I didn't realise that there was a specific thread for this so I would like to post my sentiment where it is better placed.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

A travesty for the world of football let alone Sevilla and their supporters. Only a number of weeks ago we were debating whether or not this player would be a good asset to Real Madrid. An testament to just how much potential this player had is clear that there was a lot of support for him coming to this club. Terrible loss of life and my condolonces go to everyone associated to Antonio but in particular his pregnant girl friend whose child will unfortunaley never meet his father.

    RIP Antonio. :(

Oh dear!! This is so sad!!! I thought he'd be alright, seeing that he could walk out of the pitch by himself... My thoughts are with his family and those at Servilla...

    Rest in peace Antonio.

Antonio, you passed away doing what you loved, it cannot measure up to the future that you had to offer to Spansih football but such is reality. We will miss you, you were a worthy opponent. Not only Spain but football itself has just lost a great son today. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family.

    Requiescat in pace.

This is not the time to make such comments. It's the least we can do. I'm extremelly disappointed that such a thing was said. This tragedy effects the whole football world, not just Sevilla or his family.

Anyone who wants to send their support to the family of Antonio Puerta, please send an email to:

It doesn't matter where it is, he was still a footballer and a worthy adversary. He deserves a tribute from everyone and every club. We have to look at the bigger picture here. At the end of it all, we are all football fans, he was footballer, forget the clubs and countries. Football binds all the world together and its like being in an extended family. In that respect our football world just lost someone. So, doesn't really matter what club he played for, even he played for Farca. Somethings are just bigger than a rivalry, we must be able to look beyond that.

I still football is bigger than life but then again sad facts like what happened to Puerta makes me question it sometimes.

It doesn't matter what club he played for, if that would happen to Barca player I would feel the same.... Knocking on heaven's door, that song was playing on radio right now, I'm sure he will make it in there :(:(.

When I read the news on soccernet.com, I was having goosebumbs. Totally shocked by the news. I thought he'll be alright after reading news that doctors are optimistic over his condition.

Damn man. This sucks. RIP Puerta. Although I have never seen you play before, from what I see, I can tell from what everyone says, that you're a real gem in Spainish football. You'll be missed. Condolence to Sevillia.
