Who would you compare Altidore and the type of career he will have with? In my opinion Frédéric Kanouté (with a far better attidude) is a fairly good example, a big strong goal scorer who is physically dominating and can hold the ball up well and poach goals but also has the speed and skill to create goals on his own or for a team mate, the total package in a forward, not necasarily the best player in the world or even the best goal scorer yet still a very good one who puts the ball in the back on the net consistently at even the highest levels.

Unfortunatly I think you are right, we really need a foreign coach who knows what it takes at the highest levels and has success at them, he will not get stuck on players and play the ones best suited to give us results, it is not so important I don't think to know the USA game, that to me is selfish tons of other teams use foreign coaches, he will get to know our players and improve our system not just use our crappy system and bring in guys at youth levels who know what they are doing we shouldn't be negotiating with them trying to keep our plan we should be begging to use theirs to improve at every stage nationally, a succesful foreign coach is exactly what we need, and would raise our level immensely.

    SoccerKowboy, not even close

I would say he is more of a raw and younger and inexperienced Adriano.

half of our players play in Europe. So do their coaches suck too or are our boys so dim that even all of these marvelous Euro-geniuses can't help them? Freddy Adu's coach in the USA was Euro, was a long time and very successful Euro player, and captain of the Polish national team. Did he lose his magical Euro-ness when he crossed the Atlantic? I am baffled so maybe you can explain how this works?

Nowak is a world class European manager? News to me. Playing under managers (and coaches) like Spaletti and Camacho can help a player. Just being European doesn't mean you're automatically a great manager. Playing in Europe is not only about the European manager. There are some many other aspects to playing European football The manager is just one. Some of how boys are dim when it comes to some aspects of the game tho.

    in no particular order

he has some traits of all of them, but of course is not an exact replica of any of them.
