hi ive been supporting galaxy since a long time ago cuz i'm from LA but i became a pretty big fan since they signed beckham
i just know the galaxy are like the best franchise in MLS or 2nd best after dc united :)

    ok my question is.
home depot center seats only 27,000. other stadiums sit 50,000-80,000
because they share stadiums with NFL teams.
do you guys feel like we need a bigger stadium?
and even tho we have really small stadium, i heard galaxy holds record for all-time attendance. is that true? thanks guys

for the most part. of the SSS la has the largest. toronto, columbus, dallas and chicago are all 22,000 and less at their standard capacity.

now? no. ten years from now? maybe.

I'm gonna ignore the fact that I hate people who just started following us because of Beckham and just answer you. First off, most teams don't WANT to play in those NFL stadiums. Once they get their own stadiums it'll be around 20-30k max. It's true the Galaxy pretty much sell out every game, but trust me, 27k is enough. In a 80k stadium, only 27k people looks like shit. Maybe in 10 years if the MLS become more popular.

You can't just go by numbers though-I (and probably the players) would like to see an absolutely packed stadium full of cheering and passionate fans than a half-empty, uncomfortable stadium thats suited for another sport. Remember the Galaxy/Red Bulls game? It was played in Giants Stadium, and credit should be given to the work crew, but by kickoff time, you could still see the numbering and lines for American Football. They basically just covered the field with astroturf, which makes it much more difficult for the players to play on. Defense aside, the fake stuff probably didn't help Beckham when he had to do his free kicks.

Also, keep in mind that its probably better for the fans-parking is a nightmare as it is, but imagine the competition for a parking space doubled or quadrupled! Too many people in the stadium makes it uncomfortable as well. Plus, there is always the chance for overcrowding in the bigger stadiums, which can sometimes have dangerous and disastrous results-just look at the history behind some stadiums and clubs.

What are you talking about? The field is artificial turf, I have no idea what you mean by they covered it with astroturf.

There is a chance for overcrowding at all stadiums, the bigger stadiums have nothing to do with it except for the fact that there are more people in general, however the stadium size has nothing to do with prior issues. It was an issue with away fans or terraced seating or something of that sort. That is why EPL teams are banned from terraced seating now and each seat must be an actual seat, no benches anymore either.

Sorry for the misunderstanding-I was using astroturf as an umbrella term to refer just generally to artificial turf.

Correct, that field at Giants Stadium is ALWAYS artificial, they don't change the surface they just change the lines.

Its bad to be a Galaxy fan this year. Next year, "IF" Donovan is back he will play most of the game. God WILLING, England will not make the EURO, and BEckham will play all the games. The Canadians are gonna be gone. Lalas is gonna hang himself. We are going to have a great coach. The league will have more DP's to WHORE around, so the Galaxy will get a Regular schedule. So NEXT year better be the YEAR.

to answer this question quickly NO. until we sell out every single game for a few seasons there is no need to expand. lack of supply creates more demand and buzz (key for mls). in toronto for example where my sister and bro in law live, TFC is always sold out. so there is a buzz and if you get tickets which they did through a friend with season seats its a big deal that draws some envy from other people!! because if its sold out it has to be GOOD (even though TFC is as bad as we are IMO).
