This source has actually been somewhat reliable. I'd rate it ahead of the likes of tribal football but not quite at the level of Ives/espn people and nowhere near Goff. I doubt it will happen, but if Angel can be dominant in MLS, then imagine what Sheva would do
No way there is much, if any, of a transfer fee and as much as Chelsea paid for him I doubt he'll come on a free.
That would be amazing to have him here, he would make huge waves in the MLS and DC in particular. I think he'd play really well with Emilio up front too. But I somehow doubt this for a number of reasons. He just joined Chelsea in 2006, is his contract only for two seasons or would we have to pay a lot to transfer him? Also, although I haven't seen too much of him, probably still Premiership material, would he really come over here already? He's only 30, I'd be suprised by that.
FYP Yeah, anyone know how long his contract is for? Gotta think there'd be too many interested buyers for Chelsea to let him go on a free...even getting his salary of their books. But then he wouldn't score against them in the Champion's League.
Even if it was happening tomorrow I wouldn't hold my breath... well just coz I can't... Thats a long time
We'll be playing at Poplar Point before Sheva puts on a DC United jersey. This must be what we dream of when the "Zzzzzzzz....." of the stadium is discussed.
A google news search produces this: http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&c...&hs=3ZP&q="shevchenko"+"MLS"&um=1&sa=N&tab=wn http://www.google.com/search?tab=nw...lla:en-US:official&q="shevchenko" "dc united"
"It should be noted that Shevchenko's wife is American model Kristen Pazik who has family in the Washington, DC area and expressed interest in having her kids learn and speak American English. Previously the Ukranian striker has admitted that he would someday like to follow David Beckham to the United States. MLSR will keep a close eye on this story and report any further developments." I knew he stated he (eventually) wanted to end up in MLS, but I did not know that.
I could see him coming over in 2 or 3 years, playing for about 5 in the MLS and retire in DC, like the misses wants
I cannot imagine him leaving Europe before Euro 2008 (assuming Ukraine qualifies). After that? Who knows.
Screw Shevchenko, lets give the money to his wife and have her come sit in the Barra. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2006-03/23/content_550535.htm (not office appropriate) rumor has it they were married on a "golf field" just outside of DC.
This is basically the same rumor we heard about him a few months ago.... why is it now being posted as a "new" rumor? Oh, must be a slow day for creating complete b.s. at mlsrumors.blogspot The only thing they've done reliably, is rehash old rumors and "break" stories that have already been posted elsewhere.
Well, as a Chelsea supporter, I must say... Juan Pablo Angel was a twenty goal scorer in the premiership, something Shevchenko is not even close to being able to say.
yes, but only after another journalist broke the news of the talks between the club and denilson and numerous publications had published the info. they merely jumped the gun and got lucky. they've been flat wrong about other things (thiago to dc for god's sake?!). i trust this site about as much as la opinion... which is not at all.
All that proves is that Shevchenko's game isn't suited to the EPL as much as JPA's is. It might be that Shevchenko's game simply wasn't suited to Chelsea's style of play. He's a finesse player, and that word doesn't exist in Chelsea's lexicon.
