So with the injuries to central defenders at Liverpool and Newcastle will Gooch get the call? Which situation would be better for him?

Woah, did I wake up and it's six months ago?
I hate when that happens. But since you asked, Newcastle would be a perfect fit for Gooch!

I say 'pool. He's not likely to make many mistakes there.

They have the reputation as the most forgiving fans in all footballdom.

I'd say it's way too late for a transfer if Liege hadn't gone out and gotten cover at center back... i still dont really see this happening, but if a team did feel they needed a center back, they could do a lot worse. When Gooch is on his game, he's pretty damn good, just need to get him to that consistency point.

I make no claim as to having psychic powers, but you know what I don't think that the name 'Onyewu' has sprung into either Allardyce's or Benitez's heads recently.

So, I'm guessing the only way these rumors were revealed was by the investigative journalism of LJSoccer?

Good point, but wouldn't be making any mistakes at newcastle, either. Or Manu, or Arse, or Chels, either.
At least not with the first team.

Believe me, there has been no investigative journalism on my part. I just thought that for good or bad Gooch might get a call. He has at least had a cup of coffee in the EPL and teams are willing to over pay when they are desperate and in a panic. Thats why I think Leige would let him go because the money may be to good to turn down. By the way, when does the transfer window close?

Everything revolves around England, doesn't it?

But this poses two questions 1) why would Newcastle want tp sign a player they turned down the option to buy a few months ago because they didn't think he was up to scratch? 2) why would Liverpool sign a player that Newcastle doesn't want?

Let's wait for something more concrete to speculate.
