As much as I would love for that to happen, I'm not getting my hopes up yet. It will only lead to disappointment. I'll get excited once its official.

True, right now it is only a well-rumored rumor with Unoffical Truth.....which gives it truthiness but not yet Truth.

A source that tipped off LA Riot Squad member Tommy Mack about the Sampson firing and the Yallop hiring ...

... has informed him that Yallop is gone and Klinsmann is in. But T-Mack isn't quite buying it, fwiw.

After reading the article, I never would have thought that Yallop was not up to the challenge of dealing with the whole Beckham thing and the media attention that surrounds the L.A. Galaxy. Its a shame because I really liked Yallop and it was also a great opportunity for him to shine aswell.

I still have a hard time believing this. But I love the absolute pure speculation that Klinsi would likely bring in a German 2006 WC player (with the assumption that Donovan is also out the door). :D

Please welcome the one and only . . . JOHN O'BRIEN!

Wait did it say someone from the Germany squad, or someone from the US squad in Germany?

Careful stinky, one world cup campaign, held in his home country, and with 2 great assistants, does not a qualified coach make. "We shall watch his progress with great interest".

There's only a couple of MLS type players from that squad ... like Schneider or Neuville. Frings would be a stretch. Lehmann would be a waste as a GK. The rest of the players on that squad are too much in demand. My $ would be on Schneider, which is not a bad fit IMO.

Unless/until either MLS changes the rules or LA trades for a DP slot, this isn't happening.

And if you look at LA's roster, what do they have that your team would be willing to give up a DP slot for? As a DC fan, there's no way that I'd be happy with my team trading its DP slot to LA. They don't have anything I want my team to have so badly that I'd be happy with them losing their DP for several years. Xavier, Cannon, and Beckham aren't tradeable, Donovan isn't tradeable for a DP slot, since he's a DP, and the rest of the team pretty much sucks. Albright is interesting, but nowhere near worth a DP slot by himself.

I think the only way Klinsi shows up is if Lalas get's the hook too.

As a "soccer icon" at a key moment in American soccer development, Lalas was very important, but as a GM he's been nothing short of a catastrophe.

If I had to pick from their trash pile, I'd take Ante Jazic, Mike Randolph, Steve Cronin and Chris Albright for a DP. Convert Albright into a right mid, move Burch to left mid with Jazic behind him and Randolph and Cronin as reserves. If I didn't hate him so much, I'd even take Martino. Not the best scenario, but if something like this was to happen I wouldn't mind.

    this is just crazy talk.
can you imagine the uproar if we traded our DP for those guys? NO WAY!

"We could have got Riquelme and Veron in 2008 but we settled for Ante Jazic and Chris Albright".

    Actually, both might happen.

They're talking (mentioned in other threads) about possibly adding a DP spot per team. Plus, if that rumor were true, which I don't think it is, that Donovan could be traded to San Jose, I'd imagine they'd trade for a DP spot, with Donovan using the other DP spot for San Jose, and LA having two DP players to coincide with Beckham, Pavon, Xavier, etc.

you can bet the league will change whatever rules it has in the off-season so that LA Galaxy can be successful next year. :p

I dunno. Backup keepers don't have much real value. And it's not like Perkins is old and DC needs to start grooming a replacement ASAP. Randolph was in the USL 1 recently, wasn't he? Guys like him are a dime a dozen. What did DC give up to acquire Burch? Jazic is decent, but his SI status and cap number reduce his value. Jazic and Albright would solidfy the team, but for a DP slot? I don't think so.

And from LA's perspective, Alexi has killed the team, in part, by 2 for 1 trades that have demolished his team's depth. A 4 for 1 isn't going to work for them. Plus, remember, there's going to be a new team next year. Acquiring 4 players before the expansion draft just means 4 fewer players DC can protect. And after the expansion draft, 1 or 2 of the players you mention might be Earthquakes.

Before Alexi traded Ihemelu and Gomez and Sturgis and Findley, I could see a deal. Now, not so much.

Good point about the expansion draft. Now is probably not the time to overfill the roster. Probably best is to focus on strengthening the core of the team, and LA I agree isn't the best place to look for options.

Only in L.A. would MLS give the Galaxy special rights to add superstars:eek:

Only in L.A. would a team with so many stars fail to make the playoffs:mad:
