http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/article2332376.ece The only reason why I am not sure that this is a good idea is that Klinsman has no experience coaching Pub teams.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Maybe not, but the main reason we would be getting him would be to transform this sorry ass pub team into something good. That's why I'd put my trust in Klinsi. I think he can do that. And as much as I love Yallop because he's such a nice guy, I just don't think Juergen could tolerate having a Gordon out there on the field.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA I also think that Klinsi won't take Lalas' interference. And Klinsi is big enough to get Lalas kicked out of the FO if necessary. And, last but not least, I think Klinsi is super-smart. The LAG would be lucky to have him as a GM once he's tired of coaching.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA AMEN to that! The last sentence from that news article sez: There has been talk that Donovan might return to San Jose, the former MLS franchise that is being reactivated next season. That would allow the Galaxy to sign another player who does not fit under the salary cap, and, if Klinsmann is in charge, expect that player to be a member of the 2006 Germany squad. Sounds good to me. We need this team built from the ground up, with a great manager, and around Becks.Becks made a deal for 5 years and knows about professionalism. When Real Madrid benched Becks,he didnt cry like some ********ing Santino would. He took it like a man, and proved he belonged. I think Klinnsman would give everyone a fair shot and if aint working (like buddle for example) then he gets benched or traded.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Yah looks like hes not coming without ability to choose talent: However, he wants to stay in southern California and is not interested in anything other than a high-profile job, so the Galaxy appear to fit the bill. He turned down the head coach position with the United States team last December over issues of executive control. Bet you money he hasnt changed that stance.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA I agree but he will be "repositioned" for marketing purposes...
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Maybe they will put Lalas in charge of the concession stands? His tendency to hire talent which moves slowly and runs nowhere won't make things any worse there.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA In regards to Lalas... let's give him some credit for being a great salesman , he says the right things and is a good press representative of the club. He carrys himself well in interviews and interacts with the fans (i.e signs autographs...at least I saw him do this a few weeks back)... In regards to his player/personnel skills... I agree with everyone else in regards to his shortcomings, but if there's a way to "promote" him, get him out of the player personnel decisions, and get someone who is knowledgeable and has a steady hand in being a GM, I think it's a win scenario
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Isn't this all still just speculation? I mean, it very well could happen, but no one in the LAG offices, nor Klinnsman himself have said anything about this. He's the best candidate there is, but for all we know, Yallop's there to stay for at least the rest of the season.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Once Lalas gets fired,he should grow his hair back(facial too). Then we can use him as team CLOWN.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA The executive control was that he couldn't get the same group of players together for the Gold Cup and Copa America (reliable source). He would have been embarrassed and Bradley obviously did not have a problem with that. I think adding Klinsmann as a coach/manager will add legitimacy to Galaxy on the world stage as well as the US stage. Sidenote: Lalas is not a respectable figurehead. Yes he has a brand name from the 94 Word Cup and a below average stint with Galaxy but he has stuck his foot in his mouth too many times. His personality is not strong enough to represent Galaxy and the confidence is not there. Visit AmericanBeckham.com
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Yeah, except that's not true yet - we only have one DP slot, and no way to get another unless the rules change.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Maybe a way of reading this, then, is that it has been decided the rules wll change?
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA the rules will change. Don Garber and the league office enjoy fellating the Galaxy. doesn't matter if you chumps do get Klinsmann, your personnel is awful. Can't turn poop into pie.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA I cannot believe what I'm reading with the Lalas bashing. Seems like more of the team is injured than is not and people don't stand behind him or Yallop. I think their biggest problem recently is that they didn't tell Bradley or McLaren that Donovan and Becks were not availible last week. Those international friendlies were worthless, IMHO.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Well, the way I look at it, next year we're going to have one guaranteed open slot after Cobi retires (he said so himself), and possibly another open slot should Donovan return to San Jose, positions which we can either fill with a reserve member should they prove themselves capable, slide some new youngblood into, or...contract someone who falls outside the salary cap. The article posted speculates he would be wanting to bring someone over from his 2006 Germany NMT roster. I don't know-I would be kind of sad to see Donovan get transferred but also realize the value to be had to have another experienced and talented European player on the roster. In a purely hypothetical but yet possible stance, If either position were to be filled by Zidane or Ronaldo, I would quite literally fall into a seizure. The best combination though, in my opinion, would be adding new talent and maybe a European player to fill the void. The MLS has gone through the trouble of developing youth development programs...why not flaunt it? Bring Sesay in (I'm just taking a guess here-I'm presuming he's in the program given his age-could be wrong), and import someone from across the pond.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Infinetly better than the Quakes personnel. Good enough to beat the reigning FMF and Liberator's Cup Champions and get into SuperLiga final. Don't worry. MLS enjoys removing teams from San Jose.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA But bad enough to be almost as bad as RSL in futility in the league.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Ill cheer for you guys when you relocate again and are re branded as the San Diego Sail Boats, signing international indoor superstar Tatu from the Sidekicks for a set of cones and some Gatorade. bye troll.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA Months ago I said Klinsmann should have been brought in. A lot of guys dismissed the suggestion. After floundering and remaining at the bottom of the table, I think the Galaxy should do everything in their power to get Klinsmann and give him the keys to build the team. MLS needs the Galaxy to perform well. The league will do okay with a weak Galaxy but if they want to elevate the league, they need a strong Galaxy. If you want the Galaxy to be a premier club, you need to fire both Lalas and Yallop and hire Klinsmann. Let Klinsmann recommend a replacement GM that he can work with.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA hearsay and speculation. this article has nothing of merit even worth discussing. besides what has klinnsman actually done? he won four games, costa rica, ecuador (big deal) poland and sweden. he drew argentina and lost to italy. his time with the national team has about the same number of games and win percentage as glen hoddle. interesting though he's being linked with both my clubs tottenham and galaxy.
Re: Klinsmann tipped for leading role in LA The gals need a coach that will put the fear in to their hearts and make them preform on the field to keep their jobs. Yallop is not that kind of coach, that will be the reason he will be a failure at the professional level and may never coach in the MLS again.
