I should have known that 125 posts meant no PT.

    Rules of thumb...

    < 40 posts before game starts => He's not a confirmed starter
< 100 posts in game thread means Freddy didn't make the bench
< 200 posts in game thread means Freddy didn't play
    > 300 posts in game thread means Freddy played but nothing notable
    > 500 posts in game thread means Freddy started
    > 20000 posts in a game thread means Freddy scored.

oh and for those who have forgotten their high school math classes

    < means "less than"
    > means "greater than"
    (yes I had someone ask)

Machado joga bem em frente de criancas. Em frente de homems e uma historia diferente. Agora, quando Benfica vai derrotar Toronto FC?? :D

Without recourse to Babelfish the Comedian, it roughly says: "Machado plays well against children. Before men it's a different story. Now, when will Benfica be able to defeat Toronto FC?

Yeah, I was asking you if you had used Babelfish to translate it. It sounded like a direct translation.

I can't believe that they suggested that Freddy should spend time with dominatrix.

What better way to toughen him up for the surprisingly rough play of the Portuguese league?
After a little while, he'll be absolutely begging for hard tackles...

well, we made three or four clear chances of scoring.
we just need to do just that next time... score.

I wonder if adu will get playing time in the next following games.
this coach does bet on youth, he just put two 18 year old juniors in this game alone. plus 19 year old fabio coentrão.
though we need positive results above anything else right now.... and we may have too many youngsters in the squad...
adu should be patient, his time will come when it fits the team and what the coach is looking for.

Is there really any point in creating separate game threads for not only Adu but any of these Yanks Abroad? Why not have individual threads created for each player and then have the ability to follow the player along the season.

Well, with Adu the 500 post limit would only take 2 (if even) matches to be breached.

Beasley and Convey threads also have a habit of filling up fast. Sometimes Dempsey. Not so much interest in the goalkeepers anymore -- we're used to Friedel playing well.

You could do it for players who aren't in the Premier League or Bundesliga. Or Portugal.

Or even better, maybe we could have just one long thread for every thing? We could turn the forum into a guestbook. :p

So for someone who was out of town last week - did Adu play in his last game?

No, no. don't you speak the language? It's saying that in the bgandor.com league, he is a dominatriz. I mean, they paid a bit for him, and have a right to expect a nice return. If he's not playing, he can certainly slip on the FM pumps and stomp on people.

    Dark Knight, come on.

Check the post count on this thread. Wahoo posted the guidelines above:

The accuracy of Wahoo's schema impresses me. We're right at the "made the bench but didn't play" mark. Seems pretty good, considering that Freddy was warming up but didn't make it on! It's nice when BigSoccer perfectly mirrors real life...doesn't happen often! ;)

Until you've paid $75 for a single NFL game, as we would here, nothing is high.

By european standards they paid next to nothing.....by EPL standards they got him on a free transfer.

Actually, his transfer is on par with other youngsters with no european experience and miserable results in sub-standard leagues.

Compare the transfer of Coentrao, who actually had experience and results in the league. He was reported to have transfered for 700,000 euro.

I think too many of you see the transfers of Chelsea and Manchester United and think that the same rules apply for all of Europe. Fact is, there are probably no more than 30 teams in Europe that can afford transfer fees above 5m Euros.

Wasn't the great Adu supposed to go to one of these teams....and I seem to recall some club paying $40 million for an 18 year old Wayne Rooney.....which would make him about 50 times the player Freddy Adu is.
