A professional win under circumstances that weren't exactly great. Don't try and analyize this too much, just take the 3 points (2.67 due to exchange rate) and prepare for what should be a fantastic match at Pizza The Hut next weekend.

Our forwards looked like punching bags in that game. All of the Toronto back four should have been booked for persistent infringement.

It was frustrating to watch, but not as frustrating as it must be for the Toronto fans.

I thought the ref let a lot go both ways and did an OK job.
Ugliest 3 points I have seen in a bit.
Kpene was better than the other two forwards.
Back line made more mistakes than they have the past few games but was overall OK. Troy was in control tonight.

solid win, get the early lead, choke the game off...Toronto only had two real dangerous chances that I saw...header over the bar on one, great play by Perkins on the other.

Toronto crowd sounded good, but not better than us. CBC PBP guys are the best in the league, I think, reasonable and relatively unbiased.

3 more points and an overall record looking pretty good, especially when you consider where it was after 4 games.

Silviu Petrescu is an ass. The lack of non-calls was bad enough, but he did absolutely nothing to control the game. I hope he stays in Canada and never does another MLS match again.

Kpene is so frustrating because he does a pretty decent job of getting into positions to score, but can't finish.

But that's better than Dyachenko and Adderly, who don't do much of anything.

This one's not going into the vault, but 3 points is 3 points.

Lucky you. I had FSC with Max Bretos. I didn't realize, till Motor Mouth Max told me. that Brian Namoff didn't play regularly for DC United. At least now he pronounces Namoff's name correctly.

Where on Big Soccer would thread on the topic of "Is there a worse soccer PBP announcer in the world than Max Bretos" belong?

So let's guess whose names will be picked out of the hat for MOTM on the DCU website poll. I'm guessing:

    Gomez
    Moreno
    Fred
    Mediate
    Addlery

Or if they do include Perkins, it will be for Mediate. We'll see.

Yes, I thought the Namoff comment would be my favorite of the match, until he said, "Olsen gets involved..." on a foul by Fred.

By far the best all around game I've seen Perkins have. He was sharp on crosses, got into great positions to make tough saves look more routine than they were, and his distribution was fabulous.

None but he's in the running with Tommy Smith and Ty Keogh. All I did was yell at the screen after every stupid comment by him and the inane Sullivan. I didn't realize that the two best players in MLS were Dichio and Wynne until they told- me over and over again. Referee was miserable. Robinson should have been sent off for the knee to Gomez and then the cynical tackle on Moreno. But a solid professional win by our lads. Perkins was the MOTM

Nice professional win. Bretos is an @ssclown. Sullivan should just cold-cock Bretos before the game and do it solo.

I forgot another FSC screwup -- they announced at the end of the game that DCU was tied on points with NE, after the break they announced that NE had won this afternoon and remained 3 points ahead. FSC is to sports what Fox News is to news.

I'm currently listening to Glenn Davis and Marcelo Balboa call the Chicago-KC match. Another less-than-stellar team...

We won, but we were outplayed, lucky to score an early goal, and lucky that TFC can't finish. Our possession was nearly non-existent (one short stint late in the second half, but other than that, nada), one shot in the first half (granted, it resulted in a goal, but still...), our defense was kept on their heels all night, Dichio out-jumped and out-muscled our defense the whole night. Perkins was the only real positive (well, other than the 3 points), and he could make an entire highlight reel from this one match. Funny how we can play well against NE or NY, but we struggle with LA, RSL, TFC... Playing down to the competition perhaps?

Let me pre-empt the fire Soehn comments with what I posted over on Goff's blog...

You guys really need to chill out. Mickeymouse? Where are we, EPL? We've got limited depth, salary and options. Some players have failed to step up at key times (ie Perkins for CONCACAF), but what are you talking about? Internationally we did fine up until the metldown against LA (Who knows what the deal was with that, but at least we're well on our way to qualifying next year, can't say that for our LA rivals :p). We have Chivas coming up, which we did alright with while our team was struggling (both cohesively and individually). Right now our individual struggles are mainly limited to one Gomito (what the hell happened...). We're doing just fine, well on route to the playoffs, Superliga and possibly the supporters shield or cup. Chill out, grab a beer, and realize that we aren't Man U (oh yeah, thats going so well for them right now too...).

I may never recover from that post.

One other thing, lots of bad ref comments but Carroll could have been sent off as easily as any TFC player. He had the yellow and committed a pretty bad foul later on.

I love this from the mlsnet.com post-match report:

"Toronto had two corners and three shots in the first six minutes, but it wasn't enough to the streak-breaking score. At the six-minute mark, TFC surpassed Real Salt Lake's 557 scoreless minutes in 2005 to officially become the league's new standard for lack of scoring. The BMO Field fans showed a sense of humor by counting down the seconds until the record was clinched, and then "celebrating" the event with streamers and applause. "

The FSC broadcast made no mention of this, but it's great! Congratulations, TFC, for making the best of a bad situation.

A bit of a nail-biter at the end, but book the three and just say FIDO (F*** it, drive on).

Magikfute, thanks for the suggestions, but I'm actually over in Franklin County. Ended up going to Bushwaller's. FSC on a widescreen and great beers, but only about three DCU fans. Hrmmm.

    3 points is 3 points.

I'm all for forward progress, and according to Fox Sports Noise we have scored more goals than anyone else so far this season - so maybe the criticism about finishing is deserved, but not necessarily relevant.

I can't vouch for the stats, they did come from FSC after all...;)
