I can read that it is an Earthquakes schedule, BUT the pic is from the St. Louis Arena (Steamers). Did they use a generic pic for the MISL Schedule or was this a misprint on the part of the Earthquakes?

Possibly becuase I think they played their indoor schedule in the Oakland Coliseum Arena which was soon dismantled and replaed with the basketball court after every Quakes match to make room for the NBA Golden State Warriors.

It must have gotten lost in the shuffle.

However, here are your Toronto Blizzard/Metros which should suffice.

I've listed this in several different NASL related threads just in case there are those who didn't get to see it. I figured if it weren't for Pele & the NASL we probably wouldn't be here today disccusing the MLS, the USWNT or USMNTor anything else having to do with soccer, for that matter.

30 yeas ago this Monday Pele retired from soccer...
Pele's farewell match was played on Saturday October 1st, 1977...The match was televised live on ABC TV's Wide World Of Sports. Pele played one half against his old club Santos and the 2nd half switched jersey's playing against the Cosmos. He scored in the 1st half on a free kick for NY.

What is a great question. I'm not at all convinced you are right.

The boom in soccer was happening with or without Pele. One could argue that the NASL retarded ultimate growth- since it destroyed the pro soccer landscape for well over a decade.

Regardless, it was fun while it lasted. I have great memories of the NASL.

Isn't that Joe-Max Moore's dad in the pic?

That was a unbelievable goal. One of the best I've ever seen, and given it was 25 years ago- maybe the best.

OK- who's holds this record around here?

I went to matches in Houston, Atlanta and Memphis (all NASL)

Can anyone top that? (more than 3 cities)?
