Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments he went back to pompy but htey wanted to sell him, I wonder if they did or not
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments what? are you serious? we'll see what he does with this club, does he have any opportunities of being a starter?
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments Southampton is not playing premiership football. They are in the 'promotion' division of the EPL. He should start. He's got plenty of solid experience.
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments this is just bad ... he should just go back to once caldas... seriously he is way too good of a player to play in a 2nd division
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments better that he finds his game with Southampton and impresses as he gets solid minutes then play 10 minutes with Portsmouth.
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments Thought I would give an update on him. He was poor in his first two games for us and the fans were wondering why we had signed someone who was seen as a failure at our biggest rivals, but since then he has been getting better with every game. He is playing as our central defensive midfielder alongside 3 attacking midfielders and he is doing a great job of breaking up the oppositions play (he must win about 90% of his tackles), if only he knew how to pass it once he had won it! Though the manager is working on that, getting him to just give a simple pass to his central midfield partner. He hasn't scored yet but has been very close to doing so on a few occasions, hitting the post a few times. Last week he lost 3 teeth during a game, but just got straight up again to win a header at the corner we were defending. Overall though he is quickly becoming a favourite with the fans, who usually find it hard to accept former Portsmouth players. Heres what some other saints fans think of him: http://www.saintschat.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=123519
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments i'm glad he is doing better, haven't been able to see him play......
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments Most Colombian fans have a love-hate relationship with Viafara. But when he's playing his best football he can be a very good player... here's my best memory of Viafara ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo9fOuYdrRU Once Caldas winning the Copa Libertadores in 2004 against Boca Juniors
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments Looks like Viafara might be going back to the premier league, but this time with Derby county. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_2657609,00.html
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments ... its good news for him but bad news for Colombians as he prob will be called in for the Nt if he plays in england I dont know what he does in South Hampton but in a yellow shirt he sucks he is the tallest guy on the field and gets pushed around by people 2 feet smaller than him... think my 100 lb korean girl friend can make him go fly 3-5 feet if she challenges him for a ball... the guy is good but he needs to EAT something, get bulky and use his size which he doesnt do. he does have a nasty long shot but sadly for us he doesnt even try that any more .... the Viafara we knew in 2004 hasnt reappeared since then That whole Once team as well as 2007 Cucuta was just a grown team... they believed in the hype and didnt have anything to lose and were a bunch of nobodies and now that people expect things of them their true colors stand out of cucuta the only good player is Macnelly everyone else on that team sucks and maybe Bustos. In Once the only good player was Elkin Soto every one else was ok, and they had 1-2 promising players but basically were a team that had nothing to loose and preformed well but how has 11 caldas done since 2004?
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments Dude - Arnulfo Valentierra was 'el capo' of that team! Soto was just a kid at the time, contributing a lot, but certainly not the main player. They also had a brilliant Henao at his peak between the posts, and some pretty decent centrehalves (whose names escape me just now!). They also had the best freaking coach colombia's produced in ages guiding them in Luis Fernando Montoya - how I wish he could coach the nt, what happened to him is one of the great tragedies of recent times in Colombian footie. Either way, that was a strong Caldas team by Colombian standards.
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments agreed. Plus Once had been a true contender in the Colombian league for years prior to winning that Copa.
Re: J. Viafara (r) News & comments The CB's were Catano and Vanega. I am actually trying to get the jersey of the year after they won the Copa Libertadores off of my friend. Henao was a beast in net does anyone remember when he stopped a shot and then he put his face on the ball and moved it back in forth as if he were a dog? One of the weirdest and funniest things i have ever seen a keeper do.
guess whos back on the starting line up guys !!!!!!! please no one buy vargas i cant handle both of them on the team at least viafara scores once in a while... and has done alot more for colombian soccer well guys Viafara is only 28 maybe he can change his divin ways !! because id kill to have Copa Lib viafara back hell i want all that Once Caldas team back + the coach
The guy is all effort, but he's simply too limited technically to give us what we need on the NT. I'd MUCH prefer to see Castrillon, Valencia or Sanchez there going forward.
I think we can afford to have JV on our bench. Castrillon and Sanchez have a true 'doble 5' approach then Viafara who is a bit more all over the place but has much more pace.
