I'd like the quoted text boxes shaded to seperate them more from the new post, something common on VB skins. Again, breaking up monotony, better readability, less eye strain.
I'm guessing the implementation of the option of the removal of the navagation bar on the premium skin is still being developed, yes?
Also, is it possible to get my bigsoccer to conform to skin choices? I use it a lot because of the subscriptions feature. Again, the default, no matter what page it is, is not good for at work among other things.
OK, I don't know whether these are suggestions, questions or complaints but here goes: 1) I don't understand the "Kicks" deal. I thought I did, but obviously not. I open up the Crew Forum, for example, and the stories from top to bottom have 2,1,5,2,1,1,1 kicks. I thought the idea was that the thread with the most kicks was on top. 2) Why does every new post automatically get one "Kick"? What sense does that make? It shoudl ahev NO kicks until someone comes along and gives it one, shouldn't it? 3) Since the "Kicks" page does not rank threads by the number of kicks, how DOES it rank them? I figured maybe it just ranked them by most recent activity, but no, that's not it either. 4) The new thing does not "save" preferences necessarily. Because the "Kicks" thing doesn't really seem to rank anything in any meaningful manner, and when I go to a forum and get the Kicks page it means nothing so I always click over to the "Forums" view. But I have to do it every time. It's a pain in the ass. 5) All this "If you want feature X then use the "Batman" skin" or the "Tampon" skin or whatever. Why doesn't the damn thing work the same no matter WHAT "skin" I use? I thought the idea was that you picked the skin you liked because you LIKED it, not because you HAD to to get what you want.
A thread with 5 stars means 5 people have liked it. (Does BigSoccer really need another popularity contest?) I think this is because some people like the newest threads on top, whereas other people may like it sorted differently. I think. I just set the dang thing to "most recently replied to thread up top" and forget about it. If I like a thread, then i'll kick it. If not, I don't worry about it. Good point. In theory, it should be someone else having to kick it, and the thread starter should not be allowed to kick a thread they like. I don't like the idea of "auto-kick" though. Good point. It's my understanding that the team skins are through the league website (which, as we all know is actually run by Major League Baseball), so it's up to the league.err.. MLB..err..whoever runs the thing to set their skins up.
Agreed,I want all my forums to default to the Forums view/Date sorting. Can we bury the whole Kicks view??
the buttons fit on my computer, but I still don't like them. I liked the text only buttons much better...
I agree. But then I think there were posters who were complaining about the text only buttons... Recent posts in this forum are teaching me never to even think about starting my own website,needless to say starting one and redesigning it... I'm one of those liking the new look,btw
I suppose it depends on your browser and font sizes. The problem is they've hardcoded the size of the font and the size of the buttons, so when you use a bigger font it doesn't work. Perhaps they're assuming we have 300x400 resolutions, or telescope vision. Here is the offending piece: Code: .searchButton { font: bold 12px Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Tahoma, Arial, sans-serif; color: #000000; border: 1px solid #FFFFFF; background: url(button-search.gif); text-align: center; height: 20px; width: 60px; }
The buttons are still text only. But now they have hideous backgrounds and are in boxes the size that don't match the size of the font. Why not? Many websites are designed by people who don't have a clue what they're doing. Even some of the sites of big companies.
Agreed. I still think there should be a background, though. Maybe something more subtle and not so bold. Fully agreed. Specially in Education. A high number of the websites I visit are unclear, far too busy, have "slow" coding/loading, and/or are ugly. At least here there is a place to comment about the look, and the boss responds. This is far from a typical situation, and I like that.
What I don't get is why the Search button, and the New Reply button at the bottom have a smaller height than the reply buttons in the posts...
1) Please make a skin without the damn left nav bar. I don't need it or use it and it is wasted space. I paid for full widescreen and that's what I expect to get. (and yes, I am currently using the "Premium Grey" skin.) 2) While I appreciate the efforts made to use light grey/white to cause post separation it bothers my eyes. more contrast should help. Please make the grey darker, or, better yet, simply put boxes around each post like the old Gold skin used to have. This is getting to the point where I feel I have to write GreaseMonkey scripts to make this site useable in the fashion that I expect/paid for, and that I think is a sad statement of what I paid for and am now receiving. Cheers!
At my previous job working in customer service for a major national company (one that everybody has heard of in the US), I had to field questions from customers and forward them on to the website programers/developers/etc. We were lucky if we heard from them three times a year. The company realized it was so bad that they scheduled a 2 day confrence specifically between us and the developers - billing people were there only because of office politics. So Huss "sometimes" responding is a HUGE up from the company I worked for (before I became a teacher).
And now on to a note. It was stated earlier in this thread (or the previous?) that when a thread is locked, we are not able to see that once in the thread. There is simply a "new reply" at both the top and bottom of each page in the thread. Only when the "new reply" or "quote" buttons are clicked, then is a message displayed saying the thread is closed.
