Definitely not that - otherwise they would be showing Fulham. (In fact, not much Fulham on FSC either.) But no Arsenal match, so that logic seems questionable. And generally less Everton and Bolton matches on the TV schedule so far than many other non-European teams like Sunderland. Generally, the logic that they are showing Everton-Wigan because of Everton fails, because the same channel is showing Everton 3 days later.
Is it possible that Arsenal v Fulham will be on Setanta Xtra on Sunday? And the Middlesbrough v Blackburn game on Xtra on Saturday? If that were to happen, EVERY single game would be on next weekend. If so, that is amazing. If not, the coverage in the USA is still amazing. My grandparents have DishNetwork and 406 is indeed Setanta. I say it's perfect timing.
ks..On the statements regarding the pick of the Everton match, I was throwing out reasons to make the point that none of us know why Setanta picked that game (sorry you misunderstood the point I was trying to make)....but it must be noted that Everton-Wigan was only the 3rd choice 10 am game, FSC had the next pick and passed on the Boro game as well, for Derby-Portsmouth. As for the Arsenal game, it has nothing to do with the Everton choice since it is an early Sunday morning game, which Setanta has the rights to, and I expect that it might just end up on Xtra, but the listings do not reflect that yet. You might yet be able to sleep in on Sunday Nick...while the Arsenal-Fulham game being on is a real possibility (like I said before, "when Setanta" figures out they have the rights to that game"), the Boro game is the 'odd man out', as four 10 am Saturday games are chosen for airing, with Setanta choosing 1st and 3rd, while FSC gets the 2nd and 4th picks.
You are right: ... but I still can't see people saying "BPL" Actually I think the Premier League "owe" Lionel about $10 million, as one of the crucial early forces in popularizing it in the USA. His show was quite entertaining.

I agree (to an extent) - I loved the show, and loved that it was on a wide range of basic cable channels. And I thought some of his methods of talking about the sport were a little odd - then I made the mistake of watching Fox Soccer Report - which makes Lionel look like Des Lynam in comparison.
I sent an email this morning to Setanta asking if the Fulham-Arsenal match was going to be shown on Setanta Xtra this Sunday. I received a response back saying that Setanta does NOT have the rights to this game and will NOT be showing it. I was told Fox holds the rights to this game, but from what I can see on their TV schedule, they will NOT be showing it. Quite disappointing I must say. Has anyone heard differently on this game? Any chance Fox Soccer Channel picks it up at the last minute?
I always throught that any Sunday game before 10 am is Setanta's....but they maintain that they do not have the rights to the Arsenal game. The only thing I could think of is that it was originally scheduled at another time, and switched to this time....but I would like somebody to at least claim rights for the game, even if its just to know who is not picking it up. It even gets worse from here. Next week's Arsenal game against Blackburn is Sunday at 10 am (ET), and is not listed on either schedule either. This one should be FSCs, and even Serie A is no excuse not to show it since the Italian League does not start until the week after next. This has got to be of some concern, since last year I recall FSC showing a seocnd EPL match on delay, either after the first at 1pm or the next day in the 'Monday night' slot. And extra Sunday matches seem to be more prevelant this season....there are 3 games on Sunday, Sept 2, 4 games on Sunday, Sept 23, and 7 games on October 7, for example.
On the EPL talk podcast they interviewed a guy from FSC that talked about FSC broadband and stated that the first match shown will be fulham v arsenal, he noted that the only matches shown will be ones not already on live tv, i.e., Sat 10 am 5th choice, etc., and the game thats delayed on FSC will be shown live online. he also says that they will be splitting this between setanta broadband. It will be subscription/ppv based, didnt give a price. This in essence means that with FSC, Setanta, Setanta Xtra, and FSC Broadband, we will be able to see EVERY match live.....granted that all adds up depending on the price of FSC broadband, but great news. check it out, http://www.eplleague.blogspot.com/, theres two interviews with FSC guys, one focusing on the tv channel, the other more on web and mobile features, and then an interview with a guy from Setanta about the new canadian channel, interesting stuff
Thanks for the info, but I don't agree that this is great news.....only one year after sublicensing half its games to Setanta, they are now inviting you to watch the matches not shown on tv on your computer, for an extra charge of course. It's not bad if you are the fan of a lesser supported team to be able to view that extra game. But suddenly, for the first two weeks of the season, the Arsenal match is the 'odd man out'. Does anyone else remember when the Arsenal match was left off FSC or Setanta for two weeks straight? When Setanta gained a share of the EPL telecasts, I did not mind the change because the situation was actually improved (no PPV or 3 day delay on the top games) and so was willing to pay the additional amount. Watching a game on a computer, however, is not the same as watching it on your large-screen television. In the past, the 'big' teams would have their games on either FSC or Setanta. In such situations, FSC would show a second Sunday game on delay following the live broadcast. Now its not available on TV at all. As I see it, Setanta Broadband gives those not having satellite access a chance to see the games they would see on Setanta Sports. On the other hand, FSC Broadband is just trying to milk viewers into spending to watch games on their computer that they used to watch on FSC. It's reminicent of the time ESPN decided to put the Barca-Chelsea match on Deportes and PPV Broadband. Up to now FSC has chosen to show the best matches available to them (although some fans will always beg to differ). Let's see if their ability to pick the best matches available for the channel suddenly suffers a decrement in judgement. I get ESPN360 from my internet provider, and while I appreciate having the capability to see sports unavailable elsewhere, Personally, I find it hard to watch a match sitting at my computer, not to mention I enjoy being able to DVR a game and watching it when I can. Not having it available on television at all so they can peddle a game on broadband stinks. Looks like FSC is asking us to bend over, and open wide....
The only reason the Arsenal match is the odd man out is that it was originally supposed to be sat 10 am et, but because of a train line being down to emirates along with another factor i forget they had to move it to a time slot that usually does not have a match. in the interview he says that it will be the last choice games, lesser followed teams usually. The two games on Sunday that are on tv are in the usual time slots that will have matches all season
You've got to excuse me if I got a bit hot under the collar, but I am sure that in the past, whoever picked the Arsenal game in its original spot would show it either on its overflow channel or on a delayed basis. While the reason for the change of matchtime in this case is unusual, it happens all the time during the year...and mostly to the big clubs, since the usual reason for moving the game date or time is due to the clubs playing in Europe (CL or UEFA Cup). The odds of a Manchester United or Chelsea match being moved is much greater due to their participation in the Champions League or in a later round of the FA Cup than those of a Derby-Birmingham matchtime being shifted. Only time will tell....if people want to watch the otherwise 'unchosen' matches (such as this coming week's Middlesbrough-Blackburn match) via broadband, I have no problem with that. But to take advantage of big clubs having to shift their matches by pulling them off TV is troublesome. If you check the Setanta Sports schedule for Saturday, August 18, the 10 am match listed (the first choice of the four for that timeslot) is the Blackburn-Arsenal match. Now that the match has been moved to Sunday, why should it be pulled off TV completely? This scenario will undoubtedly be repeated throughout the season.
Yeah agreed, I think there might be a chance FSC shows it delayed as they apparently have the rights, and I too hope that they will show delayed matches in addition to live online as overflow. As a fulham supporter i dont think i'll have to worry too much about the match being moved, but rather have to worry about it being relegated to the 5th choice match on broadband
Also, does anyone have any links or anything to any info on the broadband service on foxsoccer.com? They say in the podcast that arsenal v fulham will be on broadband, but there is no broadband area on the site i could find, no press release or anything like that, also the guy said they hadnt finalized pricing or whos technology they will use yet. This was like a few days ago, they better get their act together!
