Looks like the tweaking is working good. I am using the Fire Skin and my page looks excellent now. easy on the eyes and easy to nav.
no...it's better, but it's still too much white...(I'm still being blinded...lot's of eye-strain, although less than before)
still too white, and still too narrow. what is it that you have against 100% width tables? Seriously, why force the option when you have perfectly good alternatives available? As a career I am a Web Marketing Analyst and have been for the last 8 years. I would gladly consult for free on how to make web site changes correctly if you wished.
Location, club, post count, and rep are all gone now. The skin has changed from nice blue and gray to hideous bright white and gray. The white space on either side is back for some reason. Why would you destroy the one skin people seemed to have liked after the changeover?
Gone for me, too. Please bring them all back along with favorite club(s). And my Wizards skin is much brighter than it was earlier today...
re: forums - I understand where you're coming from, but a forums re-organization might be low priority now, considering what bugs and other stuff they might be dealing with. re: URL - Talk to an admin or supermod. I was able to get www.bigsoccer.com/crew to point to the Crew forum. They might be able to get www.bigsoccer.com/earthquakes or something similar set up. This is good if you access the site from many computers. Just type in the short URL and it'll automatically re-direct you to the longer one. Alternatively, if you have Firefox, you can download the "Throbber Button" extension to modify the throbber (circle in the top right corner, just below the Windows close button) so it can go to up to four URLs of your choosing, depending on combination of keyboard and mouse buttons pressed. Another option is to bookmark the Quakes forum. You could also add the Quakes forum to "My Bigsoccer" and go straight to My Bigsoccer and then to the forum. Either way, you shouldn't have to use your home button for that, when there are a lot of other options.
There are a couple of glitches right now, but they seem to be due to the fact that there are some reconstructions on the way. I really appreciate how fast the programmers react to (constructuve) critisism. The sub forums are back to their old size and the kicks are gone. I think the new design looks neater every reload. I'm sure the other complaints will be adressed as well shortly...
I meant the function is the same but the name changed. Maybe My BigSoccer is a better name ... we changed to My Profile because that's the name on most websites. I'm indifferent. Load time is an issue in IE that the html guys are working on. I think it's pretty clear (golly, I Hope) that we've listened to every complaint this weekend and implemented many of the feedback (which, tbh, is reactionary and not after digestion) and will continue to do so, even while dealing with bugs. resolution? Fixed. Thanks for catching it.
Thanks for fixing so many things so quickly. Despite my vocal complaints, I really am impressed with how you guys have addressed our concerns. That said, the white really is hurting my eyes. I know Google and NYT use it, but I don't look at those sites for 30 min or more at a time. BS is different, and people use it differently. The blue/grey that disappeared about an hour ago for the MLS skins was really nice. It would be really nice if you could bring it back. If white remains the only option, I will likely start spending less time on the site.
That might be but our profiles are different from our user pages. Therefore, there should be different names for each of them.
The posting rules say I can edit messages, but I can't find any edit message button. The default skin re-sizes images differently than other skins. With the "MLS" skins, the light, scale, etc do not appear.
Weird. In the post I just posted, there is most definitely an edit link. I won't call it a button because the buttons have gone the way of the dodos, but that's not the point. You do know that the ability to edit a post expires after a certain amount of time, right?
I have to say I liked the wide screen view a lot. I know this is how it used to be, but I did like widescreen bigsoccer.
Nor will it allow you to rep, or will it allow you to view someone's online status. But at least I don't have to scroll right to view posts.
We know it's easier to complain than compliment. Human nature. So thanks for these. Glad someone noticed the subforums and forumdisplay changes ! We agree, it's better this way. And wow, people are kicking up a storm too. Could it all be working?
Good point. IIRC, a main reason for the gray was because it was a duller color and wouldn't scream for attention from someone like a boss.
i humbly beg to differ, i use it and see them fine. nor issue cards or see IP info, in the case of mods. this is peevish. the appearance and disappearance of post count isn't important imo..., there are plenty of newbies who know their stuff, and plenty of complete idiots with 5,000 posts. but the location and team were important to me, even if some only used the spaces for wit (or what they think passes for it)
I really think you should reconsider these text only buttons. The more color, the less white, and the less it looks as tho it is mostly white. And I'd also consider re-adding color to the name/av/stats box. Perhaps at the very least the light shade that you use in a quote box.
Suggestions: As you scroll down the page, the left hand menu scrolls down as well... Can I change the layout? I hate this Roma red! lol
More color please. The format where I type my reply is less harsh because it's grayed out, and the posts are separated by thicker distinct red borders. Thanks for acting on the overwhelming deluge of complaints against the kicks. Their relatively large size was ubiquitous making it seem as if they were being forced upon us. Perhaps someday, even I will warm up to them.
