AB-so-luuuuuuuuuuuuuuutely Scint-uh-laaaaaaaaating football by the Lionel Messi.

Ha haaaaaaaaa. Couldn't stand this man @ first, but as I've watched more and more GolTv and La Liga matches, Ray Hudson is great. He kills me.

His enthusiasm can make or break the atmosphere of a match, which is somewhat of a disregarded aspect of the magnitude of the beautiful game.

So, after doing a search I thought it would be nice to find out who your favourite commentators are.

Ray isn't my favourite by the way, but he does do a job. For me, it would be Alan Parry or (can't remember the other lads name) "....Lampard's good from this range, ....he likes it from this range, ........OOOOOOOOOOOOoohhhhhhhhhhhhh! he LOVES it from this range

Just sticking to the ones I can hear with some regularity at the present time:

    Spanish-language: Sammy Sadovnik
    British: Martin Tyler
    U.S. English-language: Ray Hudson

Basically all of the English Premier League ones, aside from David Pleat are pretty good imo.

I like Paul Breen Turner for La Liga.

I can't remember his name, but the guy who does a lot of the Bundesliga games is really good. (What is his name?) Not the older legend one, but the "younger" one. :D

Ian Dark, that's his name. Brilliant commentator.

I've often wondered why they don't get these lads in on the International matches. I mean, no disrespect to the ones who have earned thier stripes, but the likes of Tyler, Gray, Motty and Brooking are a getting a bit on the dull side. Need some punch to the match.

This guy. No bullshit neutrality when his opponents score. No "gooooool"...

He just said what he felt at that moment.

Skip to 1min to get the part I'm talking about.

I suppose Eric Wynalda won't be making anyone's shortlist? :p

Ray Hudson - I too didn't like him at first, but the man has a genuine, sincere love of the game that few others can rival. One of the most passionate, funniest, and enjoyable commentators to listen to.

I also like Martin Tyler and John Champion, who are just class.

There was a game I watched awhile back - the England U21 v. Italy U21 and the commentator was excellent. I think his last name was Proudfoot, but I haven't been able to come up with anything on Google. Anyone know?

Eric Wynalda is easily the worst commentator to step into a booth.

While clicking on the thread title, this was my exact thought. Pleat is so annoying, all the others are great.

What's the name of the guy who usually does the Argentina matches on FSC? I like him the best. And I DON'T mean Bretos either.

My favorites: Paul Giblin & Sid Lowe on WorldSport, Peter Brackley, Gianni Cerqueti on RAI.

Martin Tyler only stirs himself to his old standards when paired with Andy Gray. Tyler alone these days is sadly dull.

All the 2-man teams who call EPL games on FSC (ITV feeds?) are soporific. The color man inevitably spews nothing but mealy-mouthed cliches while speaking as if he has a mouth full of rocks (I'm looking at you, Robbie Earle, stop mumbling already.)

While the picture quality on their HD broadcasts is fantastic, leave it to ESPN to do their best to ruin it by foisting Tommy Smyth on us. I'll take Seamus Malin any day. Yes he's a bit dull but he both loves & knows the game. The game passed Tommy by years ago.

I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than listen to any of GolTV's English commentary, with the notable exception being the (non-GolTV) guys working the Bundesliga. Thank god for channel 853 on DISH Network. The team who call Serie A in Spanish on GolTV are excellent. Wish I knew their names.

Got to agree with one thing there. I do miss the days of a lone commentator.

I'm a big fan of Derek Rae's. He calls the game well, lets it breathe and still manages to keep Tommy Smyth in check (for the most part). I'm always disappointed when the CL game that I want to watch is being called by Adrian Healy (even though he does a solid job, nothing against him).

The guy that does the Bundesliga games is quality. I have no idea what his name is but he seems to do a lot of the games. He did most of the Premiere Ligapokal on GolTV.
