At least we won't surpass Arsenal :p.

But seriously. I think the type of players we are *reported* to have been buying, will fit in nicely, And by all means Chiellini/Castillo may be one of the biggest signings in the history of the club. I am very excited about the upcoming season

I haven't seen that much of him but from what i've seen he looks a very good defender. He's brave, strong, tall, pretty quick considering his height as well as a leader. I also read you guys are niteresting in Elano Blumer. He's another solid, versailte player who looked vey impressive during the Copa America with Brazil. I haven't seen his club football though, don't catch much of the Ukrainian league.

Someone jumped the gun in this German website:

    http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/verein/281/manchestercity/uebersicht/startseite.html

According to Ovaciones.com Castillo is a Man City player now.

I dont have the link because the page to Ovaciones website changes constantly.

It basically says that negotiation have ended and it could be made oficial today or next thursday. (If they mean next thursday or tomorrow is anyones guess.

They have not said anything about it in greece because they dont want the fans to go apeshit on the Man city envoy I take it.

I did a little digging and I found the actual link to the Ovaciones article.

    http://www.ovaciones.com/deportivo/notas/futint6.html

The title says Nery is Citys.

Some quotes: From soursces close to Castillo

"Nery is very happy how negotiations are going"

"It is very clear that this next step that he is about to take, is for the world to know who Nery Castillo is and show all his pontential."

Man City take Thai trio on trial

New Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra has arranged for three Thailand internationals to go on trial at Eastlands next week.

The former Thailand PM pledged to give players from his homeland a chance when he took over City earlier this month.

Defenders Suree Sukha, 24, and Kiatprawut Saiwaeo, 21, and striker Teerasil Dangda, 19 were all in the Thai squad for this month's Asian Cup.

Teerasil did not feature but Kiatprawut and Suree were both in impressive form.

Thailand, who were co-hosts of the tournament, just missed out on a quarter-final place.

Worawi Makudi, president of the Thailand Football Association who recommended the trio to City, told Thai newspaper The Nation: "I believe our football standard and player ability is as good as other countries.

"The only difference is that our players have not had the opportunity as many others.

"I think the three would fare well in the trial. They are still young and have a strong desire to play in the Premier League."

I said earlier that we were dicking around with Petrov and if you guys came in and made him feel wanted you could easily beat us to his signing. And that certainly happened. I think it's another good signing by Sven who has done a really excellent job in a short time.

Oh and the injury thing....this guy has been injured twice in his career. One just happened to be last year. I don't think that is a concern.

Maybe we both got it wrong about him and he is more bothered about the money rather than European football or joining up with Berbatov! Well, whatever happened I'm thrilled we signed him and we've finally signed a quality left-winger who isn't joining on a loan deal and who can run, pass and shoot! When you compare Richardson's move to Sunderland for £5.5m, we got a better, proven winger for quite a bit less. Bargain. Who do you reckon Spurs will be after now to solve their left-wing problem?

My confidence of the team has gone up a bit since they got Bianchi, but now it's way up. Hopefully we will get Santa Cruz as well.

We can do better than Santa Cruz. I haven't seen him play much but you have to rate a striker on the number of goals hes scored, and he scored 29 goals in 155 appearances for Bayern. He would have come on as a sub for a lot of them but hes still not proven. If we did get him then I'd welcome him but I think we could do better.

Now you guys need to finalize the deal for Chiellini and possibly Blasi. Anyone have an update on either. I think Chiellini will be the best LB in England within 6 months.

Theres just the usual rumours still going around, although I don't think there has been anything new today. Apparently Blasi was joining Wolfsburg but I haven't heard anything official and also Sven has placed a bid for Chellini but it was slightly under Juve's asking price or if you believe other rumours Sven will happily pay up to £10m for him, which is enough to sign him. We'll have to wait over the next few weeks to see where we get!

And I'm sorry before, we really really really do need to sign Roque Santa Cruz. This picture with his partner (I think) convinced me:

    GET HIM SIGNED UP!

The way I see it, if you start Santa Cruz every game, he would score 12-15 goals, which is way more than Barton and Corradi combined. I am predicting Manchester City to finish with a record of 18-10-10, what do you guys think?

I couldn't find out from any sources, could anyone tell me if he is in anyway related to Stilyan Petrov, who played for Celtics in the past?

Sven’s Manchester City revolution continues with his newest signing, Bulgarian international Martin or Stiliyan Petrov. There seems to be a lot of confusion about this signing as neither Martin nor Stiliyan are sure which of them is included in the deal. Martin O’Neill has released a statement refuting the announcement by Manchester City, “I just want all of our supporters to know that Martin Petrov is and will continue to be a Villa player.” It was rumored that Martin or Stiliyan Petrov was being courted by Tottenham Hotspur, as one or the other is best mates with star forward Dimitar Berbatov. When asked about the transfer, Mitko replied, “I love Martin or Stiliyan, but am not sure which. It’s the one that I do not think is an asshole. I wish we could have signed the one that isn’t an asshole.”
