It's cool to know have two suppoerter groups.. and I dig the name, certainly way better than Red Army, LOL. Good luck to al;l those involved, cant wait to see you guys at the games cheering the team on. Aguante Batallon ~
You guys have some seriously, awesome ideas. Don't forget to email me to push this further for a meeting date and time. The sooner, the better! Here'e my email: jhnsadate@yahoo.com
I must admit that I am bit at odds with sporting the red, white, and green together. My loyalties lye with the U.S. and Chivas USA, not Mexico. We do not want to give the impression that we are anti-american! Let's be creative and either stick with the colors of our team. Our flag would look pretty cool with a stylized version of a Shamrock that incorporates the symbols of the Chivas in each clover. Heck we can use the horns of the goat as the base of the shamrock! These are just a few ideas that I have...
You guys are obsessing with the kilts. We will not wear kilts (unless you want to) nor dress like leperchauns. Read about the Battalion, learn some Mexican-American history and consider its relevance in today's xenophobic times. Some (not all) of you are posting about insignificant details without actually contacting me and getting the actual 411. If you are not serious about this project, then fine. But if you are then contact me today jhnsandate@yahoo.com
Why can't you just post infos on the board? People are generally lazy to email anyone unless they have to.
The email has been sent, I want to know more about the present Battalion rather than the guys that were strung up on an infamous September day. In the name of History, one cannot seriously use Wiki as a credible source. My professors would have killed me If I used it as a primary source. That site is more memory based. BTW: xenophobia is nothing new, its just a great way to get people riled up for a dubious cause. I also have a feeling that a xenophob wouldn't last to long as a CDUSA fan. Their heads would eventually explode! As for the kilts, its just a joke.
hhhhhhhhmmmm very interesting! a new group you say?? batallion??? LOL well, EastLAChiva we'll be contacting you. awt legion 1908
Chivas USA with another race based feature. Shocker. Banding together by dividing. Hasn't worked too well for the team so far, has it?
Race based? You must be too high from inhailing Bekham's and Yallop's ball stink to understand the thread properly. Keep inhailing, maybe one day you'll fool your self into believing the galaxy is a 'super club'.
The Irish were being scrutinized by the highly protestan US army for being Catholic. So most of the Irish and some other Europeans deserted to the Mexican Army and thus formed the Batallon San Patricio or St. Patrick's Batallion. They were key in the defense of Monterrey(the city I live in). You see they were an artillery batallion so their cannons pummeled the US Army for hours in the Obispado valley(we now have a big ass Mexican Flag hovering over the valley which can be seen from almost any point in the city) When the US won the battle of Monterrey they retreated to Churubusco joining a Mexican batallion in the defense of Churubusco. The Mexicans and Irish bunkered in Chrubusco church and were vastly outnumbered by the Americans. When ammo ran out a Mexican commander wanting to surrender took out the white flag causing the Irish commander to tear the flag and order his men to charge the Americans using hand to hand combat. This was basically because the Irish identified with the Mexican sentiment of the time and bearing similarities in religion and humilty(Mexicans and Irish were poor at the time most Mexicans still are ) There's a movie about this...Its called One Man's Hero if anyone's interested I'm not a Chivas fan I'm a Tigres fan and a big history buff . Been hanging out in the MLS topics and saw this come up and thought it was pretty interesting. Also my private school in Monterrey is called St. Patrick's School, there's and Irish school too for obvious reasons Glad I could help
being that our sister club is out of guadalajara, a natural reaction from the common fan is that our club caters to the mexican fan. the batallion is just a way of saying everyone is welcome. its not that its dividing, but instead creating a deeper unification. beat it, geek.
Why go back to the Mexican War? There's a more recent example you can follow. Friesack Camp Just when I thought Chivas USA fans couldn't sink any lower. You're pissing on the memories of people who genuinely fought for a cause, just to help an Omnilife salesman sell a few tickets to a fake soccer team. Have you no ********ing shame whatsoever?
Going Mobile, This is not a "rivalry issue". This is a very interesting topic fraught with racial and RACIST overtones. It needs discussion. It needed discussion before the folks who proposed it came out with it.
I'll have to agree with a previous poster in that you shouldn't need to go back to Mexican history (mind you, a war against the country in which you live) to find a cause worth representing. You're better off finding an inspirational AMERICAN, such as Cesar Chavez, that sought to unite people and is hailed across all races as a civil rights activist than arguably the most anti-American sort of group, traitors. After brushing up on my CC knowledge, the group he founded was the United Farm Workers. Shouldn't be difficult to find a tie-in to the Goats, no?
you're here from LARS TROLLING period, you know I know its incredibly obvious. Leave the Chivas topics to the Chivas fans doesn't your team have enough to worry about?
