Lulinha of the U-17 selecao - scored 3 goals, has tremendous potential for the future! He is very popular and
    well liked by everybody.

Lula, the president, is not popular, and he got the biggest vaia from the biggest crowd in Maracana! LOL

However, I personally like both the president and the young soccer player. :D

LULINHA or LULA is the GOAL PRESIDENT!

He's the top scorer by far in the recent south american U-17 competition. He's only 16 right? Btw he is a striker or attacking midfielder?

Fabio (left-back, signed for Man Utd) is also another super talent to look out for in U17 WC.

    Mods,

Rename this thread to "The Official LULINHA Thread", please!

Lulinha is one of many others good players for the future of Brasilian soccer and he isn't Lula, who is, on the other hand, a big obstacle for a brilliant future of our country.

I predict Lulinha will raise the 7th world cup champions' trophy for Brasil in Maracana in 2014 - which means we have to win in South Arica in 2010...

I think by 2014 Lula will not be the president.

no, recently his agent (robinho's agent) was in talks with chelsea.

hopefully he will leave at the end of next year, he is too young to leave our team.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i heard there was a game in the pan american games where he missed a penalty or had a horrible game and after that it was all downhill for him. or it could have been in one of the state tournaments at the club level. something along those lines.

funny how when you look at the earlier posts for him, people felt he would have been integral for the 2014 team. i don't even think people knew that much of neymar and ganso back then...

Neymar and Ganso weren't on the first team back then... While Lulinha was and he was 17 at the time and coming off the hype of his amazing U-17 campaign.

Lulinha is as previously stated on-loan at Bahia where he's been an undisputed starter and has shown some of his old promise. It went downhill when Corinthians threw him into the starting XI at such a young age. They compromised his lack of development for first team futebol.

He was at Chievo and Ajax for a while, on loan from Inter. But he hardly played for any of the teams.

Now he ended up in Nacional from Minas Gerais, third division of campeonato Mineiro.

a series of knee injuries basically ruined his career.. iirc he retired at the age of 21 and then returned to Brazil to play for some small obscure team.

This happens all the time in every sport. Hype at a young is a double edged sword. An interesting question to ask is who is a current "can't miss" young player that will never pan out and fade off in obscurity? Oscar?
