El Pando had his prime time, he is really good when he wants to be. But he does not wants to play, he sucks. He is originally from Belize but having better oppotunities to prospect he decided to go to Guate. I think he the best soccer player in the league but that when he wants to play. He thinks too much of himself. But he a true Guatemalan pround prospect.

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

The Football Federation of Belize has announced the names of 24 players for the national selection which will represent the country at the UNCAF Nations’ Cup tournament which will be held in San Salvador from February 8-18.
Three players who have been playing abroad wll be returning home to be part of the national team: Shane Orio, goalkeeper for Punta Arenas of Costa Rica, Sevin de Leon from Guatemala’s Petapa club and Ryan Simpson from the Panama league.

The national team’s other goal keepers are Charles Slusher and Woodrow West.

Strikers for the selection include Marlon Mesa, Dion McCauley, Deon “**********” Flowers, Lennox Castillo and Victor Morales.

The midfield will include Harrison “Cafu” Roches, Edon “Yellowman” Rowley, Mark “Kelo” Leslie, Harrison Tasher, Robert Muschamp, and Isidro Lara.

The defense will be controlled by Ian Gaynair, Elroy Smith, Vallan Symns, Orland Lyons, Trevor Lennon, Andrew Allen, and Bernard Linarez.

Christobal Gillharry scored the winning goal when the national team played a friendly game with Deportivo Sayaxche, Guatemala’s second division on Wednesday, January 3 which Belize won 1-0.

The team had to postpone the return match set for Thursday, January 11, when their bus could not climb the hilly Peten roads, made slippery by rain.

Head coach for the national team is Anthonio Carlos Viera of Brazil. The Physical Trainers are Luis Cabrera of Honduras and Ernest Morris of Belize.

Veteran goalkeeper Marvin Ottley will coach the goalkeepers, and Ken Vasquez is the physiotherapist

The top 5 teams from Nations Cup will move on to the Goal Cup, to be held in Miami and Los Angeles in June.

Belize plays its first game with the Salvadoran team on Thursday night, February 8; its second game with the Guatemalan selection on Saturday, February 10 at midday; and the 3rd game will be with the Nicaraguans on Monday, February 12.

Assistant referee Eugene Contreras has also been invited to assist in officiating the Nations Cup.

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

Belize-Guatemalan player Selvyn de León might not play for the Belize NT because if he does, he'll be considered a foreigner in the Guatemalan national league. He plays for Deportivo Petapa.

Results in UNCAF Cup / Gold Cup qualifiers :

    8.2 Belize - El Salvador 1-2
    10.2 Belize - Guatemala 0-1
    12.2 Belize - Nicaragua 2-4

Not bad results for Belize.... Sorry that they did not get a draw or win.

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

Is Belize Caribbean, Central-American, or both?

The question may sound silly to some; however, just like Surinam and Guyana in South America, Belize is considered a continental caribbean country in the Caribbean. But, they participate in UNCAF tournaments, not CFU. So, from a football point of view, they are not Caribbean.

So, what do they think about themselves?

Belize also has indigenous Mayan people and Mestizos, not just black creoles and Garífunas. A lot of Mestizos actually, thats the reason a large part of the population is Spanish speaking. In the whole caribbean coast of Central America you can find caribbean culture.

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

Reports are that whiskey was flowing in the FFB lounge in Belmopan on Saturday, following the official ceremonies and the re-election of Dr. Bertie Chimilio to the presidency of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), in the presence of officials from UNCAF, the National Sports Council and the Olympic Association of Belize. Olympic Association Secretary, Hilly Martinez, was returning officer for the election that saw Dr. Chimilio chosen for a third four-year term as FFB President.

The 6 – 2 margin of votes in favor of Dr. Chimilio might have been deceptive, as three of the six votes Dr. Chimilio received were from delegates representing associations he had recently suspended (Stann Creek, Belmopan and Cayo), and whose elected representatives were barred from entering the FFB compound to witness the voting. Only Dr. Chimilio’s approved delegates representing these associations were allowed to enter and cast their votes in his favor. Demonstrators from at least one of these associations paraded in front of the FFB compound, but uniformed Police prevented their entry into the compound.

The announcement of Dr. Chimilio’s victory over popular former referee and General Secretary of the BPFL, Ruperto Vicente, was not well received by most football fans, who hold Dr. Chimilio’s presidency largely responsible for Belize’s lowest ranking ever in world football – last place. Only Belize District and the BPFL voted for Mr. Vicente.

Other elected members to the FFB Executive include, vice-presidents Bernaldo Pech and David Jones, and directors John Moody and Trenton Miller. All except Moody were members of Dr. Chimilio’s slate of candidates for the election.

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

This lineup presented on the BFLA's football is amazing to say the least. its left to see if all the players on that list will come back to play. For one they money the BFLA is nothing compared to what their clubs pay, that is if they even get payed. There's also a question for some player's like Selvyn De Leon about his nationalization issue.

But i am glad to see that we have a strong team playing outside. I'm also glad to see they've added some great players to the lineup .. especially Marlon Meza, I dont know why he wasnt named for the last team, he has consistently proved that he's a goleador even if his teams dont make it far. That kid is full of promise. I also dont know why they didnt include some of the other younger players like Danny Jimenez, or Richard Jimenez or Orlando Jimenez for that matter, all very good players.

I want to see the foreigners in action!! the experience they got abroad should help the team. Great to see Bent Burgess Back, in my opinion he's better than Tilliman Nunez. I didnt know he played in Argentina!! what the hell.

and Guate FC, you're right, Chimilio and his cronies is the reason we'll never get far with football in Belize.

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

An article that came out this week said that Deon Mccauly a striker with F.C. Belize was set to sign with Puntarenas F.C from costa Rica, but apparently talks died as Puntarenas found out that their #1 striker is staying and not going to Europe as had been previously mentioned. Still Shane Orio says that Deon got an offer from Panamanian club Arabe F.C, but Deon is holding out for a while, and is returning to Belize on Tuesday.

meanthwhile it is said that F.C. Belize will try to have him stay for the upcoming concacaf games where F.C. Belize will meet Puntarenas F.C on august 9th.

what you think? should Deon signe with Arabe?

well The pana League has recently became a breeding ground for footballers to export out to Colombia Copa Mustang league, and Portugal Superliga , it would be a good move if he succeeded there and for Belize, then a move from the pana league would be the best, while the CRL is known for a tough 11 to break , and if he makes a starting 11 in CR , and does really good, places in europe will open, including the The USA top flight, MLS.

F.C Belize play Puntarenas tomorrow... any thoughts? comments? predictions?

    i predict 3-1 puntarenas,

will be interesting to see if belize can have any chance in competing at club level, the most successfull has been a draw from our home team Verdes United.

Deon Mcauly should play, he was supposedly to join puntarenas, but they got another striker instead. would be nice if he scored a goal, and they decide to sign him.

will be shown live on Gol TV

Re: Any Question on Belize Football..

the newspapers and sports analysts here follow puntarenas closely because of shane orio, and it seems they did well preseason and the start of their season. They have a strong lineup from what i hear, they acquired a striker from their rivals deportivo saprissa, the position Deon Mccauly had been scouted for.

F.C. Belize play a very agressive game, no jogo bonito here, if you wanna see good crosses and technical play, my team Verdes United has the best, but unfortunately they always end up losing against the more physical teams like F.C. Belize and Revolutionary Conquerors from Dangriga. They have some Big guys on these teams, so even if they dont impress in the technical form, they should put up a good physical fight.
