I don't think there's a formula a player will be able to use to figure out what his best alternative is. There are too many factors, and far too many of those are largely unknown. That train's already left the station.
I guess it depends on a players reputation prior to his move to a professional environment. Clint Dempsey was by no means thought of as an EPL player when he came into the league from Furman. MLS was the perfect opportunity to display his skills and put himself in the shop window.
most of the decent players get around 50k quid a week... thats 100k dollars... you may want to check the exchange rate... lampard is dragging his feet over accepting 120k quid a week... thats 240k dollars. The useless german ballack is on that much too...unreal (there are 2 bucks to the quid at the moment guys.... my figures may be out here and there but 50k quid is about the average in the big clubs)
ha i love how you work hleb in to the conversation, england is glad they havent produced any of them. However the enlgish do have problems producing top draw players, unfortunately for them. You state that brazilians, italians and argentinans dont do well in england, but they sure do well everywhere else now dont they? How many english players dominate in Italy, Spain, Germany, and France? None... French players seem to do well everywhere, Italians have shown they can compete in foreign leagues, brazilians domintate almost every league on the planet. Argentinians do pretty well themselves. So im not sure why you think the english produce such great talent, with the exception of wayne rooney i dont think the english have one player that would make a first 11 of a team composed of italians, brazilians and argentians, for that matter, or a team composed of french, spanish or germans... the peremier league is the most overated league in the world, the top of the table looks great, the bottom 10 is absolute shit
You dont follow football much do you sir....For a start we dont have many Brazilians, Germans or Italians in the prem, compared to other leagues.... more eastern europeans, scandinavians and africans.... its a tough league.. so it does not really have much appeal to cross dressing italians and germans that fall over and cry if you nudge them... ballack is a good example. I was at cardiff for his first game for chelsea v liverpool. .he did nothing... sissoco took him down with a bone crunching 'firm but fair' tackle. Ballack chased him about a bit.. took him down.. got a yellow card...injured himself in the process and went off before half time. This is one of the best players germany can produce? Down get me wrong. They have some great players in their national squad... all polish tho....oh how times change hu
and English players dont go abroad much... but the ones that have made an impact. Owen for example... had more goals per game that any other player in la liga while he was there. But Raul didnt like being overshadowed so he had to go. But im sure you already knew that
yeah gerrard never dives, please son... diving and falling over happens in every league. You definatley dont watch the bundesliga, diving and falling is not tolerated, especially rolling over and time wasting. My post had nothing to do with diving/falling or how tought the english league is. Tough does not equal a good player... Who would you rather have, 10 vinne jones's? or 10 ronaldhinos? So I hope to god american kids stop going to england and start going to spain, france, italia, germany, and the netherlands. Dont bring up established players like boca and mchead, those guys didnt learn there football in england. Im talking about the young yanks. Adu, Altidore, zizzo, etc, these guys should stay away from england.
thanks for brining up that tough as nails english player michael owen... sure he scored more goals at the time, but did he domintate, has there been a trend of english forwards going to spain... no. Owen is the exception not the rule. Alan Smith, Beattie, A Johson, D. Bent, P. Crouch, Nuggent, Defoe, etc... you think those guys are going to dominate spain, italy? Wayne Rooney would do great in spain or italy(but again he is the exception), but the next level english guys... would be tough for them, they dont have that creativity and technical ability that is more required in the other euro legaues.. thats why arentinians and brazilians produce the goods, there players are suited better for a wide variety of leagues and styles. they are creative and can usually adapt to the situation, english players seem to only play that unique fast paced english style... look at arsenal, a team that plays two touch football all over the pitch, ever wonder why they dont have very many english players? And if they do, they usually are defenders(walcot being the exception and again not the rule). Technical ability and creativity, thats why. The english game and academies seem to stifle it, and enforce rigid styles of play(with the exception of the top 4 teams, who BTW are all coached by forgieners) Show me an english team with and english coach that plays with style and beautiful attacking football and i will show you some swamp land in florida i want to sell to you. I want american players to develop creativty and technical ability, i dont want them comming back from england playing that awful rigid tactical dont get scored on mentality(cause lets face it, our youth most likeley won't be playing at chelsea, manu, pool, and arsenal). Which means they will end up at one of the other clubs who cant hold a lick of salt to the top 4 or the rest of europe(when was the last time a english side other then manu, pool, arsenal won a european cup or hell even got to a final, ok borugh but with the kind of money they have they should be doing that!) Stay away from england is what i say. Flame away
what the hell does that have to do with anything i said? nothing... if you want money and thats all you care about, then go to england and become best friends with cashley cole. BUt if you care about developing your creatvity and technical ability and you arent good enough for manu, arse, pool or chelski, dont go there
Hleb went for $15M when Arsenal bought him from Stuttgart. Is what what an average English player sells for, $15M? Ah, thanks for the laugh.
Shortbloke, don't let the haters get you down, keep your chin up as all is well with the Premiership. The only thing I didn't like was how Man U crashed out of the Champions League to the eventual winners. They played god awful their 2nd leg in Italy... brutal...
Do the big four develop all their own technically capable (English) players? If not, where do they come from?
I ma not sure how I got on this mail list but... I got this one today and it includes an interview with Brad Friedel.
Fair point, but the article was posted to point out thoughts of at least some people on the general quality of coaching young players in the UK versus The Netherlands and other Continental nations. In other words, is a young Yank opting to go abroad to a club academy better off in England, Die Niederlands, Deutschland, etc.? What wasn't expected was another Brit convinced Beckham will be the God-sent shepherd leading flocks of young Yanks to the beautiful game. Hey, it might not hurt yet the sport is and will grow with or without Beckham. Now, even more young girls (soccer playing or not) might suddenly find their way to games. Maybe they'll drag their little brothers along and keep some of them from falling prey to the lax trend.
well pardon me boy.....Er.. what makes you think these players you mention would even get accepted by an English club anyway?? I can honestly say I have never heard of any of them.... except Adu.. but that only because i read a thread about him in here And for the record I go to germany every other weekend....off there this friday actually.... i lived there for like 8yrs...army...etc. my lad and i watch a bit of the bundesliga and there is diving all the time..... so im wondering which budesliga you have been watching. You certainly dont see as much diving and rolling around on the floor in the prem as you do in say serie A. Well except Drogba obviously.... We've even managed to stop that orange skinned portuguese man u ponce throwing himself roughly to the ground when ever he gets near the box
boy you seriously talk drivvle...... quite laughable too Dont most of the MSL teams have English coaches and trainers? Funny that hu..
people that talk total bøllocx dont get me down mate..... i find it quite funny how an american can be so criticle and opinionated about other leagues when they have no big name players, have never produced any big name players, probably never will either ..... and whose national womens team is way better than the mens! I think its really funny to read all prem bashing and the bashing of English players...etc At least we can play the f*** game. Last time is saw an MLS game it looked like kids in the park all chasing a ball around
Well, they don't cap Canadians and they kick your lilly white arse every 4 years (oh, but Owen! Owen! Don't your remmmmeeeeemmmbbbeeeerrr!!!! it was glooooooooooriouuuuuuuussssssssssssss) Yes, Ballack is one of the best Germany can produce. And he's pretty damn good. And more to the point, without that many "brilliant" players, they still play better than you guys every tourney. What's up with that? Do you REALLY want to talk about foreign born caps. Wait, I just spit my cuppa out my nose.
You may be able to play the game, but how come English posters suck so bad? I mean, it's your language and all ... one would think you'd be better at it.
DaMarcus is a pretty big name ... three syllables ... and you English can't even pronounce that properly ... Marcus DeBeasley ... awesome ...
What has England won in the last 40 years? Your freaking Uruguay in disguise. The USA will win a world cup before England every repeats.
