    Oh my Gawd!

On the luckiest day of the year (or so they say), Lew Wolff was interviewed about the A's and its future stadium location in Fremont by KTVU Channel 2. Ofcourse, if you talk about Lew Wolff, the Earthquakes is not too far behind.

    My favorite quotes:

When asked if he's convinced that the soccer will succeed in this market (or something like that), his response: "...over the top convinced!".

The reporter also said that the Earthquakes left NOT FOR THE ATTENDANCE or something to that effect---ah, finally someone gets it....

People, we are getting our TEAM back and we will know it SOON!

WOW ! ! ! that's good to know that the media keeps talking about this group, something which we really lacked with the old ownership ;)

I liked seeing the report from the area that will be the future home of the San Jose Earthquakes.

I don´t wanna rain on someones parade but it´s hardly a sensational statement eh?..I mean what could he say when asked? :D

To me the one positive thing is the media interest..they smell something, Quakes might be back soon, Becks mania, soccer on ESPN, to the media people that are always chasing "stories" it kind of adds up.
The growth of soccer in America have always been a cumulative effort..The growth of media interest in soccer might evolve in a similar way I guess?

My favorite is the end of the segment:

2 kids, obviously Lew's grandchildren---wearing Earthquakes t-shirts and holding soccer balls...love it!

Its funny that when they announced the A's stadium in Fremont, Lew showed up at the Quakes rally downtown. Also, yesterday they wanted to talk about the A''s but then they showed kids wearing Quakes shirts.....I think he cares about soccer more than he does baseball.

No. Near the airport. They talked about both proposed stadium sites, Fremont and San Jose and did a remote shot from the San Jose site, if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't go that far. The guy is at tons of A's games in the front row. I think the reason you're seeing him pushing soccer so much is the Quakes need more pushing right now. The A's new stadium is by and large a done deal. The city of Fremont, the vast majority of the residents of Fremont and Alameda county are all behind the A's move. It's just a matter of time on that deal and the requisite forms and studies.

The Quakes have alot further to go and need his attention more at the moment.

I would not be at all surprised. More kids that age playing soccer than any other sport.

Yup! We saw it on TV too.

Great article. Focused at first on the A's and then skirted in to the Quakes. Probably Lew told him you can't interview me on the A's without including the QUAKES.

The report began by following the Story on the All-Star game at PacBell park....and then they said this could also happen at the future A's park. Lew also said his park will be the smallest or one of the smallest in the league and very intimate where the fans feel as though they are on the field.

As for the QUAKES, they showed eQuakes scoring goals, fans cheering and lots of blue paper flying through the air with the Quakes blue banner. Quite festive video. Made me realize (yet again) how much I miss those games. (sniff)

    It was a good clip.
