I'm an editor for FIFA '07 for PC at soccergaming.tv

Our initial goal was to create all 208 national teams for the game and now that we've done that, we need to make the rosters more believable.

There is no better way to learn about a team than to ask it's fans so I signed on here asking for your help.

Please take a look at the roster I posted and let me know what you think. Tell me if you know of any players that belong and why. Tell me if I should drop anyone for any reason. Tell me if you think some players are stronger than others in a given position.

Any responses will be taken into account and will be a huge help. Please keep in mind users will probably be playing tournaments with this lineup all the way through the 2010 world cup. So, youth players are always a plus if they are competitive at that spot.

Thanks a ton guys. I really appreciate your time and assistance with this project.

Maxi Rodriguez (rested for the Copa America because he missed most of last season through injury) and Cambiasso are the most glaring omissions, along with Diego Milito, Gabriel's brother.

Sergio Ageuro (currently playing in the under-20 world cup) will definitely be a fixture in the squad in the coming years, and I presume Gonzalo Rodriguez (currently injured) will too. The other youngster that springs to mind is Higuain at Real Madrid.

From the current squad in the Copa America, you have excluded Ibarra, whereas you've included Clemente Rodriguez. The other two who aren't in the Copa squad are Saviola and Coloccini. Saviola may well feature again but I suspect Coloccini may not.

Actually, Ustari isn't in the Copa squad either, but that's because he's injured, otherwise he would have gone or would have played in the under-20 world cup (I'm not sure of his age but he's young).

You've excluded Franco, Cufre and Sorin, which may be correct, as all three have been omitted from the Copa squad and may not feature in Basile's plans.

Thanks for the response... Cabiasso is actually on the roster at left mid. I wasn't too sure of that but the latest responses I got suggested it.

Someone else suggested Higuain but I couldn't find any information on him and he's not in the game to begin with so I just didn't have anything to go on for creating him. Appearance, Birthday, I didn't even know his club, so I left him off.

    I will look into Milito.

Someone had suggested those three keepers and I know franco had played in the world cup when Abbondonzieri went down. I got the impression he was now being overlooked as Carrizo is pretty young.

What position is Ibara? Left Back as well?

I left Sorin out because they already had Heinze at left back, and when I saw suggestions for a much younger Clemente Rodriguez (and no sorin) I decided they must be looking to develope some youth talent there rather than two vets.

I will certainly look into the other players you mentioned and see what I can come up with. Thanks a ton again.

    Ibarra is a right-back.

Agree with most of what big-daddy said.

Another player that should be included is Ezequiel Garay. He's 20 and a CB for Racing Santander. He'll definitely be a part of the senior NT in the future.

You can take out Coloccini. I'm pretty sure he's never playing with the NT again.

Thanks guys, Trying to finish up Uruguay tonight but this is very helpful. I should be able to get a third version done soon and get it all rereleased. This was a huge help. Please let me know if anything else catches your eye.

You should consider some of the players that were part of the "local" NT a few weeks back.

Look for the list in this section of the NT.

Most probable players that will take part of the NT are: Zarate, Botinelli, Lavezzi, Ledesma, Ferrari, Tuzzio, Belluschi, etc.

Higuain plays for a small club in Spain ... Real Madrid. ;)

Well I know that now... unfortunately I learn a lot about many many national teams which means when it comes to the biggest clubs and countries, I'm not always up to date. So I can tell you a bit about players like Sandvliet (Suriname), or James Younghushband (Philippeans... though he was at chelsea for a spell)... I would struggle to give you a starting 11 for any top national team or club... I do know the U.S. team in and out though. learning about more teams and players is what this is all about.

efernandez9... I'm not too worried about getting the roster numbers correct right now it's sort of a pain to work them all out and I just don't believe it's the most important though in the future I hope to have every single players jersey number correct. But we're talkin about 208 teams too so.........

So... no one questions Zanetti at right back? Despite his age no one has really suggested dropping him. Is Burdisso the most likely to replace him or do you have any future prospects at that position?

The thing is, with Ayala, Zanetti, Veron and Crespo, until they announce their retirement from international football, or until Basile considers them too old, they're in, and I would suggest you have to include them, although they won't all be playing in the next World Cup, they'll be replaced by the next generation, players like Garay for example (whom I must admit I don't know).

Ibarra is a right-back, as Dr Know said, and because Zanetti is versatile enough to provide cover for Heinze at left-back, he gets the nod ahead of Clemente Rodriguez in the current Copa squad.

As well as that, I would definitely take out a defender from your squad, Coloccini, and add a midfielder, Maxi Rodriguez. I don't think anybody would argue with this.

I would also take out Saviola and Palacio, and put in Diego Milito and Aguero, though others may disagree.

Milito is the logical understudy to the aging Crespo, and Aguero is too good not to feature in the coming years.

I have so much hope from Gonzalo Rodriguez. We are not as good in defense as we are in attack. I think Gonzalo is one of the very few defenders we have who will improve us vastly. However i can't figure it out why he is such a injury prone? It is very unusal for a defender to be injured so much.

Higuain, so far has not impressed me to be in the squad, especially when we have so much talent in that area. Saviola will definetly come back as he will be playing regular football from next season with the new team.

But as Argentina is so good in producing new talent, it is almost impossible to name a squad even for next year. Who had Messi on their line-up 2 years ago? or Aguero?

I think this is the case with every team in the world... No lineup I set up is going to be 100% accurate even 6 months from now... But these responses are all great and it's helping to get the rosters very very close to accurate so that the people that use the patch only need to make one player here and there. They might just need to transfer one on and one off to fix things up instead of before having to revamp the entire roster A-Z.

I have always liked Saviola if you make me take him off I will weep a little. But the attacking options for Argentina to even be able to consider this kind of a move... I wish everyone you play in 2010 the best of luck cause I think you'll pick up your third world cup while you're there. You'll probably beat Cameroon, Argentina, Ivory Coast, Ghana... someone like that in the semi's or finals.

a few have suggested Coloccini be dropped so I think moving Maxi Rodriguez back onto the squad is a good idea. What position do you guys use him at? I think during the world cup he was playing right mid? is that still correct? EA lists him as a striker.

He predominantly plays right midfield I believe.

Yes he plays mostly right but he can play on either side. In the Argentina-Serbia game in the WC I believe he played mostly through the left.

yes, and EA listed him as RF in Fifa01, which was a pain, cos when you tried to play Maxi in midfield, his stats would go down.
