    I’m hoping I can get some help from you guys.

    I am American and an editor of FIFA ‘07 for PC over at the soccergaming.tv forums. The community is dedicated to the expansion and betterment of the game as it is portrayed in this particular medium. The updates include, teams, leagues , rosters, formations, kits, balls, logos, flags, banners, stadiums, players, faces, and anything else we can find a way to improve.

    My particular role at present is as a National Teams creator. The game comes with 41 national teams loaded in… there are over 200 in the world (if you weren‘t already aware). While we have completed our primary goal of creating the 208 FIFA affiliated nations it is clear that due to the quantity of teams that we were creating, each one got less attention than it deserved.

    As a result, the secondary goal of the project is to begin improving the previously released teams. The biggest thing each team needs is updated rosters.

    What I am hoping you would be willing to do is to take a look at the rosters I’m posting and let me know if you see something that doesn’t add up. Players that are missing, in the wrong position, or not rated high or low enough. Look at formations and tell me if they seem viable to you or if you know for sure that a specific team ALWAYS uses a specific formation. Tell me anything you can about these teams and I’ll do my best to take it into account when I update that team.

    Some things to keep in mind:

    I use a different scale than EA used when they created the game, so if seeing players at a 99 seems off to you, please ignore it. Pay attention instead to the ratings of each player as it relates to the rest of the team. If Igor Akinfeev is listed middle of the pack, and is clearly one of the best players, we would make a note of that.

    International rosters are not the same as club rosters. They are never set. There are hundreds of players maybe thousands eligible for a specific national team and you never know when some random star is going to emerge. At the same time, club responsibilities require clubs to use a pool of players rather than a set roster. We are limited to 23 players for a national team by the game. The goal is to create a realistic 23 man roster with at least 2 goalkeepers, preferably 3.

    Thanks again for your cooperation and participation. Every single response will be an extremely valueable resource. I’m only one guy with one opinion. Based on that alone I am already limited in a very drastic way.

    P.S. Sorry if the roster listed isn’t even close haha.

    We'll start with these three.

    What is the Panini album? not heard of it before. Thanks for those updates I will incorporate them... MOST OF the teams already listed are the EA defaults or NEARLY the EA defaults.

    I'm actually recording every game of the copa america... they aren't really using their first team in every case there because of injuries to certain players. Obviously Ronaldinho and Kaka aren't there. Jaime Moreno rarely plays for Bolivia these days and has started all of their matches if I remember right. You get the idea...

    I need to set a roster that they are likely to use all the way through the 2010 World Cup Finals. It's impossible to get it right for every team looking so far ahead, I just need to do what I can to come up with 23 very believable players for each team and make sure they are in the right positions.

    No tournament will definitively give me a roster for a team aside from the World Cup. plus, the users of the patches nor I really want to wait on anything if we don't have to.

    The point isn't to perfectly predict who's gonna be at the 2010 World Cup... the point is to decide from people who know the rosters a bit better than I, what the best, ideal, perfect lineup might be.

    There isn't any "getting it right" it's all about making them more realistic so that users spend less time correcting them themselves. And watching tournaments and diagnosing rosters is a great way to go about it but it is very time consuming, and there are hundreds of teams that I need to do it for and I spent a week and a half on Poland alone...

    I'm only asking for some opinions on the rosters if you know about the teams. That's all.

    You have no left-back for Brazil - you've placed a central defender there instead of a left-back.

    Right now I'd guess:

    Júlio César;
    Daniel Alves or Cicinho, Juan, Lúcio, Gilberto;
    Gilberto Silva, Elano, Kaká, Ronaldinho Gaúcho;
    Robinho, Fred

    Keep in mind, Dida is not an option at all (retired) and probably wouldn't be there in 2010 anyways. Zé Roberto is not likely at all. Émerson has not seen call ups recently and probably won't, and Adriano won't until he fixes some things.

    With that in mind I'd add the following players to a list of 23 (to complete the 12 above):

    GK: Gomes, Cássio (to pick a youth player) or Hélton
    RB: as above - Daniel Alves/Cicinho, add Maicon as well
    LB: Marcelo
    CD: Luisão, Alex, Naldo, Cris in that order
    Mids: Mineiro (not likely to make it to 2010, but will keep getting utility call-ups until then), Josué, Júlio Baptista, Anderson, Diego
    Forwards: Ronaldo? May as well, make him a starter for now :D. Others: Vagner Love, Pato (add a young guy, very likely to make 2010 IMHO).

    Thanks a ton Ombak... Yeah I was aware I had supplimented a CB at LB... If I remember right that's all that EA had done and I just don't know enough about the Brazilians to correct the mistake. Now I do!

    I wasn't even aware of Dida's retirement from international footall.

    You are not the first person to suggest Adriano be taken off the roster... What is it about him that's keeping him from the lineup? I would have thought for sure he'd be chosen over Ronaldo.

    This was incredibly helpful and I will incorporate it into the next round of updates.

    Out of shape and disinterested since returning to the team. But that may change quickly enough that it might not matter.

    Who would your captain be? and who takes corners? I assume Ronaldinho would take PKs and FKs.

    Captain in a line-up like the one I gave would be Gilberto Silva, with Lúcio as an option too.

    I was just gonna add this as an edit to the last post but apparently I can't... Here's the revamped Uruguay I came up with... They don't have their own forum on here???

    Let me know what you guys think.
