More like our defense was almost not existent with the pressure. ditto with midfield.

The attack was surprisingly good...the finishing horrifically bad.

Our strikers are the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. I mean I've seen sucky before, but these guys take the sucking cake with some suck a la mode and some suck sauce drizzled all the suck over.

Twellman! Your time is up! We see the same crap over and over and over and over. How many chances does this clown get?

Johnson is a target man that a proper striker could play off of, but unfortunately we don't have one.

EJ looked very good as the game wore on - good runs and vision, a few very nice passes linking up with people. Should have had an assist.

Twellman never looked to turn, get fouled, etc.; he's a reflecting wall that bounces balls to feet back in various directions. Not very helpful, even with Clark's cannon occasionally waiting there, as a permanent strategy.

Paraguay had a goal on a free kick, and capitalized on two giveaways. They also squandered one giveaway. Three great chances, one solid; 3 goals. Almost no other threats.

The US, by contrast, had EJ's run at the defense, Mapp's breakaway, Moor's missed goal, Twellman's missed goal, a couple scrambles in the box, EJ's pass to Bornstein for a good save, Clark's goal, and Clark's shot for a good save, plus several more corner kicks. True, a couple nice saves in there, but it's at least 8-10 chances, with one goal. Not all fell to the strikers, but pretty woeful finishing.

This is, IMO, where our lack of European professionals kills us - that ravenous appetite to treat any given chance as a freak opportunity to be so carefully focused on and finished, whereas we seem to see it as just another part of our domination, no more nor less important than overall play.

Johnson did a lot of good hard work and really stretched the defense. This should be Twellmen's final chance. The only thing he's got going for him is his finishing and that is completely absent at the international level. Subtract that and he bring nothing to the international level. Next please

I will take Johnson's dirty work and effort tonight over Twellman's disappearance act the last two games.

On top of that, if I hear one more word about service and Twellman I am going to throw up in my mouth.

Twellman had one teed up to him in the last ten minutes and did nothing.

Let's face it, the kid isn't good enough at the international level. He isn't tall enough to hold the ball and win headers ala a target forward. He isn't quick/fast enough to create his own shot.

Ultimately there may be individual moments where he does something good (like the assist today) but at the end of the day, we are better with a big fat target forward like Ching and Cooper every day of the week and twice on Saturday.

I actually think Brian Ching had the best Copa America of the forwards so far. Cooper has done well by comparison as well.

Johnson has a role on this team, IMHO it is as an offensive spark of the bench. Start Ching, Donovan, Dempsey, Clark, Feilhaber, a left mid of DMB/Convey/whomever and that is our attacking six in WCQ.

Then bring in Johnson at about the 70th minute as our first forward off the bench.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Adu and Altidore at forward as well.

The good news is we should see what Charlie Davies can do against Columbia.

    Why Cant we Finish

We had so many opportunities and we didnt finish....we just couldnt do it
so i just dont understand why the United States cant produce good finishers why?

We should develop a separate Brandenton just for forwards where we teach them how to finish they just constantly focus on ball in net

we should have won that game but we didnt cause we couldnt finish

22 shots to 11 shots and we lost 3-1 WTF

we had twice as many shots and 1/3 as many goals I just dont understand

Our defense attacked well for Paraguay.....

EJ played great at times and played horrible at times....needs to work on finishing and not backpass it so often. EJ should be walking the line, not playing as a withdrawn striker.

Twellman......could u score against someone becides Norway to save ur life?

    Twells was non existant today.

EJ, well, he played decent. The thing is though, he is a fast player and should use his ability. He held up play well, but never put himself in any scoring positions besides that breakout. He never makes any darting runs behind the defense or gets in the box for crosses.

No one can finish and its incredibly annoying.

seriously, i don't think i've ever seen in my life a team not be able to finish as many opportunities as they had tonight. holy flying f*ck these boys sucked.

Apparently, Ricardo Clark is the only person out of 300 million people in this country that actually thinks he can shoot.

And whoever thought Lee Nguyen was good was an idiot. Call me when the kid eats a bigmac and doesn't get blown away in every single foot race.

I had no problem with not worrying about doing much in this tournament as long as we gained experience for our players but damnit what's up with this poor finishing.

If we aren't going to finish let's let Arturo Alvarez get a shot. He will give you some fantastic moves before he skys it.

Thought Johnson did have a significantly better day.

You're out on a date. You have a great dinner. You go to the bar. You have some drinks. You light up the dance floor. You move in closer. You take the girl back to your apartment. You move to the bedroom.

And then she proceeds to punch you in the balls for 45 minutes.

Thus is life as a US soccer fan.
