Cauldron: It's been a great season so far and we've been loud and energetic for most of the games thanks to the injection of the Argentine Barras, but we are lacking one important element to our group.

    COLOR!

For example check out our group after a goal *this picture doesn't have the B.A.F.*

    Kinda lacking huh?

I know we don't have a massive amount of supporters (I'm talking thousands) that sit in the 'Head, but we could ad some color to the group very easily by adding a few simple things.

    1. Flags. Up above thats me with the dinky checkered flag. (I know I look like I have down syndrome) But imagine say...300 dinky flags, as shown by the River supporters here:

    Pretty cool huh?

All it takes is a sewing machine, nylon fabric, and commitment.

And trust me, it's really easy to do something like that go to your local bad-ass fabric store (not the mom and pop places, they don't have it) and grab some blue and white nylon fabric. Don't grab too much, a yard of each should be enough to make 2 maybe even 3 flags if you are feeling adventurous. Also, find some steel eyelets, they should be in the same place you find replacement buttons.

Get your fabric, size up 2 pieces of blue fabric and one white, going down the middle, if you want to do the easy way, or make a bunch of blue and white squares if you've decided that you want to commit hours of pain and suffering to your club. Once you have your flag laid out the way you like, grab one piece fold it over and another and fold it under like so. Use an iron to make sure the fold stays down, it really helps.

    ____________
    ................//
    ..............//
    .............//
    ............//
    ............-----------

Throw a stitch down the middle and call it attached.

Wash rinse and repeat until the desired design is achieved.

    Now shoring up the edges.

Take the edges of your fabric, which should be frayed at this point, and fold it over twice.

It should look kinda clean and uniform. Now stitch it twice all around, and pound the eyelets on.

    Congrats you did it!

Now go to a hard wear store and get no more than 1 foot longer than your flag of PVC piping and some zip ties.

Attach the flag to the pipe via the zip ties and you are done.

It should take more than 10 dollars and 3 hours of work. If you suck at sewing like me ask someone who knows such as: Girlfreinds, Moms, Sisters, People who took sewing classes, etc.

    2. Streamers.
Easy, just go get some and trow them at the appropriate times.

    Good luck guys.

we normally have some streamers, don't know why we didn't have any last night, although I know we've been told not to get streamers on the field, so that's complicated the streamer issue.

As for the flags, they're easy to make, after I got the fabric and stuff, my mom got the sewing for my "The Groin" flag in about a week. I had the flag with me last night, but I got caught in the moment.

And you can see my flag on it's way up, the pic was just a second too early. I have made several flags/banners and am in the process of creating one right now for one of my daughter's premiere soccer team. I made the one you see at the tailgates as well (which is the one I am raising after the goal), but it was much more complex than the one you describe above. Still, they are very easy, and realitively cheap, to make.

You heard 'em, get on it you lazy bums.

You wouldn't know until you've been in a fabric store that dwarfs some grocerie stores.

Can't remember who owns those and brings them. Jeff maybe. If so, he was not at the game yesterday.

We tend to get mixed reactions regarding the flags. I personally love them but I can see the point that some have made to me that they obstruct view and you can get smacked around by them (and it's all fun and games until a drunk Cauldronite puts your eye out with a flag).

As I said, I'm for all the color, noise and movement that we can bring, but be forewarned that flag haters are out there and will not take the flag waving quietly.

I believe quite a few people have flags, I think OG has some, Alan has some, and I think Chris might have a few.

I have 3 or 4 in my van. But everytime I bring them, they don't get waved.

and if you don't feel like making a flag, there's a website you can go to order flags. (or there was). That's where a lot of guys got their flags. You'd have to ask Jeff, Alan, or maybe OG what the website is, cause I have no clue.

They were able to order blue and white checkered flags, and diamond flags like on Bayern's logo.

Well, they're really hard to wave in your van. ;) Seriously though, everytime I've walked into the stands with flags people go nuts to get one. I haven't tracked whether or not they actually wave it after they get it or if they are a flag hater who just wants to control it...hmmm...

Just make sure you don't stand on the seat to wave your flags. I've been doing it for 11 years but all of a sudden last night I was informed by Fan Assistance that I can't do it anymore. Just trying to let everyone else in the Cauldron know so they don't have a run in like I did last night. BTW, I sit in section 118 across from the Cauldron. Not sure if that made a difference or not.

I've had my flag abducted by the Argies at least 3 times this season.

They've been all over us this season about that too. Pez and I had fun with one security guy who had to stand in a seat to tell one of the Argentenian guys to get down. We told him that he wasn't supposed to stand in the seats. Surprisingly he took it pretty well.

I think it depends on who the Fan Assistance person there is. I know the Argentine's and multiple other people have all stood on the seats in the Cauldron.

I called Sam and asked him about that and unfortunately the Wizards do not control security at the games, they are owned by the Chiefs. Interesting fact that someone told me last night was that there are Chiefs fans that stand in the seats all of the time and security says nothing to them. Guess if you have hundreds of people standing in the seats then it is harder to enforce.
I can't wait until we get a place of our own so we don't have to deal with this crap anymore!

Right, but I haven't seen a game yet where they aren't in there telling people to get down. Doesn't seem to be much pattern to it...it's like they get bored and decide to tell people to get down. And it usually starts the "policia" song. :D Last Sunday a security guy got trapped in the middle of the Argies and they started jumping and moving side to side with him in the middle of them. He didn't freak out or anything, which I was worried about.

After doing a little research on the web last night, I could not find anywhere(Chiefs website, Arrowhead via ticketmaster, or the Wizards website) where it is against the rules to stand on the chair. I had only done it out of courtesy to avoid hitting the people in the area. I guess now I'm going to have to deal with people complaining that they are getting whacked.

As for adding more color to the Cauldron(the real topic here), I think it is a great idea. You can never have enough blue!!!!!!:D

    GO WIZARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
