http://mlsnet.com Anyone else not really like it? EDIT: Site has changed significantly since this was first posted.
other than the titlebar and links at the top, it doesn't look a whole lot different, and not noticable enough to realize it's been redesigned. weird ... to be honest, it almost looks like the page isn't loading properly.
It looks like they're still deploying aspects of the site. I'll give it an hour before I make any decisions about whether or not I like it. Except this is Big Soccer, so I hate it already.
Exactly. I don't know if it's just my computer, but some stuff just doesn't seem to be lining up right. I much preferred the menu on the side if this is the finished product. If it's not, then why put it up now?
Ah, but look across the top of the page, and some folks will be ecstatic: the conferences are gone! Single table, baby!
Wow! The site looks entirely different. http://web.mlsnet.com/index.jsp I'm not sure if I like it or not, but there's certainly quite a change.
The reality is that with Beckham coming very soon, they are making it easier for all the foreign visitors, and others, not familiar with the conferences to find the teams by putting them in alpha order.. Most certainly has nothing to due with a single table but I assume you were joking..
Looks like they are doing a live update or something because everytime I go back the site has changed further. Maybe I spoke too soon, but I figured they would've changed it all at once?
Eh, they probably did. It's just the way caching works and speed of deployment across the intertubes is different for everyone.
That's true, but not at the rate they did it. The upper menu bar was up far before the rest was. Seems a bit odd as usually a site would make the entire change over at once. Still seems like some things aren't lining up great, but I assume they will be fixed.
Hmm, team links are no longer listed at the top by conference but alpha order. Maybe a single table is coming?
Funny - as I moused over the tickets the first line item is Guaranteed Seat Licenses. I forgot about those things - I wonder how many people actually bought one? That and I understand if you click "Standings" you go to the 2007 Standings - but shouldn't that be an option under the drop down menu? Same with stats.
The News section is terrible. I can't imagine an older person trying to read that type. And it constantly changes to MLS Shop stuff like it's trying to fool me into clicking on an item to buy when I want to read an article. The images appear to be of better quality--that's it.
All of the links that are set up to create a new window (ie the video links, the GOTW, etc) do not work at all in Firefox. That and the search bar/English and Spanish links are still floating in space. Overall it looks pretty sleek, but it's just a facade makeover, not a whole lot of new substance or content to it. I do like the refined scoreboard sidebar, but team colors or wordmarks or something would make it a lot less generic.
Old site was way better - this is much too horizontal. Call me crazy, but I am telling you that is a big thing. There is absolutely nothing that goes vertically - it is all just boxes and links horizontally across, and I hate that as it makes things harder to read. Basically, the site is too wide. Something needs to be condensed so that those tables and upcoming games are more noticable and prominent. The old method of putting logos with the games was effective - that whole section is hard to read now. But, as usual, this site falls more in line with that MLB template. It looks a lot like it, except it is a much "wider" site than MLB. I do like that you can click the video and play it right on the main page.
Under the "related news" section part of the Flash animation, have you tried clicking any of the links to go to videos, or the link to vote for Goal of the Week? If they work for you, maybe it's my version of Firefox, but right now nothing opens. And just another small note, just to "idiot-proof" the site, they should probably add "Current stats" and "Current Standings" links under the drop-down menus, because someone completely unfamiliar with the site probably wouldn't check the right-hand sidebar on first instinct to find these things and would be lucky if they stumble on the fact that you can just click the "stats" column once to get there. Just a small nit-pick.
Firefox. I'm running an up-to-date version with the latest flash. I cannot single a single thing where the news should be.
Redesigned MLSnet.com launches Except they took the logo's away from the scoreboard so its more difficult to tell at first glance what teams are playing this week.
I dont like how you have to click to see the different conferences standings over on the right side. Graphics are cool, but both conferences should be listed without having to click a tab.
