Recent News ...... Orlando City FC ........ http://www.dailycommercial.com/main.asp?SectionID=42&SubSectionID=173&ArticleID=19777 Treasure Coast Galleons http://www.myhometownnews.net/index.php?id=23590
Orlando has begun practices in preparation for the Summer 2007 season of FESL. Galleons are planning tryouts in the next few weeks. Any news on Deportiva or the Hurricanes?
Okeechobee held tryouts last week and should be holding another set of tryouts in the next week or two. Okeechobee News is covering the team... paper is a bit old skool, so I don't think many links will be available. PSL Hurricanes held a tryout last week and will also be working with the Galleons during their tryouts on the 14th. .... New Team is also on the burner at the moment....could be based around the WPB area.
Not this season no. The closest to you would be Palmerias SC based in the northern Palm Beach area. Boca area is now on the burner and may also come into the league soon.
Probably Orlando, although Okeechobee isn't too far off. Treasure Coast is 2 1/2 hours away on the opposite coast.
Just found out about this league. Looks interesting! As a Floridian Soccer Fan, I am STARVED for live action. I read online about registration for players and teams. Would anyone be interested in starting a team in the Tampa/St. Pete area? I live in Tarpon Springs and have always thought it would be a great area for a small semi-pro or PDL squad. There are a ton of soccer fans and fields to play on. I am a photographer/writer/web developer and I would love do anything I can promote the league and teams.
The Galleons had a nice turnout for it's April 14th tryouts. 40 Players turned out for the Galleons tryouts, including a few ex pro's from Brazil, Costa Rica & England.. and a special appearance by Mr Thomas Rongren himself. Players will be cut and or signed over the next two week training period. FESL league play kick's off May 19th.
Treasure Coast Galleons vs. World All-Stars Coming in July. The Galleons are proud & honored to announce the following players as representitives of the World All Star Team .... (more players to be announced soon). *Joe Max-Moore - Former US National Team Member & MLS All Star.. Max-Moore also shined for Everton FC of the EPL, and Nuremburg & Saarbucken in Germany. Joe Max-Moore will be looking to once again dazzle the public with his goal scoring abilities. *Mark Chung - Former US National Team member & MLS All-Star. Mark compiled an astounding total of 61 goals & 76 assists during his MLS career. *Ivan McKinley - Former South African International & MLS Ironman. Ivan has played in Europe (Switzerland), in South Florida with the Ft Lauderdale Strikers and then moved on to the MLS where he would become one of the most consistant players in MLS history. *Craig Ziade - Former Jamaican International, Craig also applied his skills with the NJ Metrostars & DC Utd. in the MLS. Craig will be hitting pitch as representive of the Jamaican National Team. *Michael Araujo - Former South African International. Palmeiras SC have signed two stars to their club, Stuart Duffin & Donovan Francis. Duffin was recently elected the player of the year for the 2007 Copa Latina tournament, while Donovan Francis joins Palmeiras after a successful run with USL power house Charlotte Eagles.
Hurricanes practice / tryout The Hurricanes will holding their first practice session on Monday night at 7pm at McChesney Park. The Hurricanes are accepting trialists this Monday night only, for any interested players. The Hurricanes will also be announcing a new signing in the near future as the Hurricanes will be brining in a former professional star to play on their 2007 roster.
"Sneaky" Pete MArino will play for Gold Coast. If there ever was a league in the USA that should play Fall to Spring it is this one. Okeechobee SC plays near my parents winter home in Fort Drum. I can't imagine many people showing up to there games. There' not much out there particularly in the Summer. This league would make a nice winter league like the PDL. MLS could send their developmental players there.
"Sneaky" Pete Marino plays for the Treasure Coast Galleons. With the majority of Florida being engrossed with the local, college and NFL football seasons....soccer takes a major backseat to football during the fall to spring. Fields and fans are more readily available during the spring-summer. As to Okeechobee, it's full of Central & South American migrant workers who work for the citrus companies. It will be interesting to see how many people show up for their matches... however the team is set up for a long run within the league as their city/county is full of talented players.
The Treasure Coast Galleons have signed five new star players to it's roster. *Pablo Gentile who played for the Miami Fusion (MLS) & Odense BK (Denmark)..... *Alejandro Valle of Spain who played for Barcelona (La Liga)...... *Gustavo Aragolaza of Argentina who played for Wanderers (Chile) & Arsenal (Argentina) *Alejandro Gorosito of Argentina who played for River Plate (Argentina) .... & *Juan Yalet of Argentina who played for Olimpia & Motagua (Honduras) & Boca Juniors (Argentina).

Has the Treasure Coast Galleons opener vs. Orlando City FC which was scheduled for this evening been postponed?
Yes.... paper was printed one week before yesterday and 24 hours before the league went with a 5/26 kick off date. HomeTown News prints bi-weekly and not daily. www.FESLSoccer.com .... you'll see the real schedule there. The Galleons are playing Miami Tango this weekend in their final warm up match before the season.
Treasure Coast Galleons played former USL members Miami Tango on 5/19 at South County Stadium in Port St Lucie. Galleons 5 - Miami Tango 1. www.FESLSoccer.com
Okeechobee kicked off the 2007 FESL season against the Treasure Coast Galleons. The Galleons walked out winners 4-2 with "Sneaky" Pete Marino getting two goals for Galleons. Antonio Rose struck the first goal and Scott Cunningham got the eventual match winner. Okeechobee native & standout High School player Omar Guerrero hit one of what should be many more to come. Galleons 4 - Okeechobee SC 2
USL Palm Beach Pumas & former USL standouts Miami Tango will be joining the FESL in 2008. 2007 will see both clubs take on a provisional schedule with both clubs playing friendly matches against current FESL 2007 league members.
