... and what are the chances that he ever wears the PSV uni again? slim or none?

None. Beasley showed some quality in spurts, but not enough overall to warrant a contract. Speed can only get you so far in top level play and it doesn't seem that he has developed any significant skills to complement that. At that level, you have to be at the top of your game CONSISTENTLY, and he didn't do that.

Sure, he's improved in his time in Europe -- most notably during the first 6 months after he got to Holland. But it seems he stagnated since then and his time with the USMNT over the last year has been bad, at best.

Has he peaked as a player? Is this as good as it gets? Based on what I've seen over the last couple of years, the answer is yes. His time with the USMNT is over. There are too many higher quality players with more upside to choose from -- like Mapp, Davis, Adu.

Are you in the PSV executive office? Is this an official release?

Well, good... maybe he'll come back to MLS to add more attacking to the league... he's always been exciting to watch, his finishing is just inconsistent.

I actually think the chances of him coming back are pretty high now.

he wants to stay in England, but there are teams, that would be more than willing to use their DP slot for DaBeaze.

I have no clue if he goes back to PSV but to say that his time with the USA team is done is nuts.

He would definitely be worth a DP contract. However, there's lots more for him to learn in Europe. He may not have been as successful as he wanted to be with PSV or Man City, but he shouldn't give up yet. He's much more talented than he's shown over the past two years.

Some of the postyers on this thread opine as if they're in the executive offices of Manchester City or PSV.

What is known from the news links in the YA forum is that Beez was going to be offered a contract by Man City pending negotiations with PSV over the transfer fee. The manager got fired. Then the reports of Beez getting released appeared.

The man scored 4 goals in 13 starts as a winger playing for a team with a garbage midfield. I'm sure there's a place for him that EPL if he wants it.

As for Beez saying that he didn't want to go back to PSV well that's what he should have said as he was adamant in his desire to play in England. He needed to let Man City know that his heart lay with them.

As a big fan of DaMarcus Beasley, I really hope he doesn't return to the States. While it would be fun to be able to watch him play more regularly, I care more about his development as an impact player for our national team, and I think he would be best served by staying in Europe.

IF Barros-Schletto is not worth of a DP, then neither is Beasley. He could be an important role player, but is not somebody you build a team around, makes those around him better, nor look to to control a game. If he can get as much as DP money in Europe, good for him. If not, then a DP spot is not needed to obtain his services.

LOL! I'll take that as a compliment. The truth of the matter is that Beasley is not really a "special" player. He's a serviceable midfielder -- nothing more. Like most players, he had some success, but is probably beginning to understand that success is all too fleeting.

The younger players should heed this lesson and work hard, as professionals, to CONSTANTLY learn and fine-tune their craft, because professional careers are generally short. If you don't continue to work on your game, you will be left behind. And such is the case for Beasley IMO.

I agree, I think he will either be coming back or playing on a second-tier team in Europe. Definitely does NOT deserve a DP contract.

Let me clarify my earlier comment. His time might not be over, but I don't think he will have a significant amount of time on the team anymore. We simply have better options.

I can't see him getting to the level of being an impact player for the USMNT again. (see above)

And nothing wrong with that ... I just prefer opinions borne from sound analysis and reasoning. :) Personally, I draw my opinions from many years in the game and being immersed in the sport having lived many years abroad. That doesn't necessarily make my opinions better than anyone else's, they are just coming from a different perspective. :)

    Right on Captain10,

based on my experience, I heartily agree with you.
Mr Beasley is as you said a journeyman player with no truly exceptional skills.
No real control of the ball, No shot, and lacks vision. This lack of vision is directly attributable to lack of control since he must stare at the ball as the opportunities pass.
He is plain and simple, in my opinion, nothing but a journeyman.
That is of course not at all bad.

We really don't have near-future options at Lmid without a healthy/in form Convey, a better Mapp or Davis, a younger Lewis, an out of position Bornstein, more mature Adu, etc.

Beasley's important still to the USMNT.

Nah, there's a lot of sh!t being tossed around like postyers are privy to insider info. I know it's just opinion but wording is rather pompous.

Preki was a journeyman. We were lucky he came here from Yugoslavia. Remember that he scored against Brazil.

Beasley, if a journeyman is no longer among many other USMNT journeymen.
McBride? retired. Jones? will he have another cap? Friedel? will he come out of retirement if Howard and Keller crash? Berhalter? is he retired internationally? Reyna? retired.

I think he makes for great depth on the full team. I find it rather comforting and easier to breathe when we've got guys like Beasley, perhaps coming on in the 80th minute, largely to incinerate tired defenses. He's still a very young player and should be with the NATS for some time to come.

I think Beasley will be picked up by some EPL club in the offseason. I think his goal percentage to number of games played is somewhere above .300. Hard to turn your back on that.

He needs to stay in Europe if he has any hope of being a regular on the National team. MLS will do no good for his game. I agree with others that he is fun to watch, but his forward play is irratic. How many times have we seen him actually hungry for the attack? Too few...

He could come home and be a decent player in the league, but to consider him DP-worthy...well, that's just silly.

I have to laugh at people who think Beas can't be an impact player with the nats anymore. He HAS to be an impact player for us to be successful. When he plays well, our team looks alot better. Beas is an absolute must-play for big games and big tourneys.

He assisted our only goal at the WC, and had another goal called back against Italy. That goal goes in, he's our WC hero.
