You can't build a Complex like that and have empty seats

I'm watching on FSC and the stadium looks sh!te - dull, quiet and empty seats abound - what the hell did you want a Club for?

    This isn't the Premiership.

The weather here is horrible right now, and this isn't a culture where people will go to a sporting event even if it's chucking it down.

I've watched plenty of EPL games this year that didn't have a packed house.

Why are you hating? The weather was sh!te tonight, perhaps you've never experienced the cold rain during a Rocky Mountain spring. Growth takes time, you can't expect a 13 year old league to compete with the EPL. What a dumb post. Jump on the bandwagon of Man United and leave us the ******** alone.

I'd say one is more miserable during a downpour like tonight than during a blizzard to be honest. Sure it's cold during a snow shower, but you don't get soaked. Being wet and cold sucks.

I thought it was a good crowd, they were into the game. Anyone who goes to a game knowing that it might rain, is a brave diehard soccer fan in my book. Nice stadium in Denver.

    p.s.

Oh, and thanks for taking in Señor Cool, and I hope you didn't strangle him during or after the game.

You are comparing cold rain to a blizzard? Even if you are English you should know the difference.

And your mention of football proves my point. This is a football culture, not a footy culture.

There's a week to go in the EPL. West Ham and Bolton had empty seats. Sheffield and Aston Villa had empty seats. The weather was British summer nice during both matches.

I posted this in the game thread as well...

I need to give a hearty well done to the fans who showed up. I was very disappointed at the size of the crowd to start the game. Maybe the weather kept numbers down, I don't know. But as the rain poured down, I looked around and most of the fans were still in their seats. I thought the fans enthusiasm was outstanding, it's to bad most of the players took the game off, the fans that braved the weather deserved better.

    Well Done Rapid Fans.

You have made seven total posts. By my count three of them (43%) have been pointless. Go away.

Something tells me the Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies wouldn't draw any more people than the Rapids did tonight if attending one of their games required sitting in such weather. In the Broncos, you cite the local exception rather than the far more relevant rule.

The Broncos are a bad comparison, because they aren't a sport in Denver, they're a religion. The stadium would still be filled if all the fans were required to cut their own fingers off before they were allowed in.

But I can guarantee you Coors Field empties for less rain than we had tonight. (Heck, they'd call the game off for less rain than that.)

Generally the weather is good in Denver, but on a night like tonight (48 degrees and pissing rain) a Brazil v. Italy WC final would have put about 300 people in the stands. So lighten up, and go troll on some other board. We have a GREAT new park, and we support the Rapids 100%.

It was raining pretty good, and oh yeah, Adams county was under a tornado warning (county the dick is in, but the tornado's weren't even close to it) earlier in the evening! That might keep some people home too.

You are 100% wrong. The stadium did not look empty. Also, with that weather forecast, i must say that whoever did show up is a brave man/women. I have two children age 10,7 and I will not take them to a game with so much rain even if I have the tickets. I would probably call to exchange the tickets for another day. So be careful how you talk. Almost 11k for a day like this was not bad at all.

But the good news is - for Thursday - we should have yet another kind of weather. We had the sub-arctic, the windstorm, the rain & hail - so lets have some nice freaking sunny, warm weather for thursday.

i saw a few cars haeding out from the parking lot even during the tailgating. More folks leaving at halftime, mostly people with kids - but a lot of people who said "screw this man, it's cinco de mayo, there's all kinda stuff going on downtown on saturday night an it's dry in the clubs".

Although I was warm by the time I made it back to Colorado Springs - after 80 miles of blasting the heat - I was still soaked when I got out of the car. That's the price I pay for being a fan :) In a few more weks we are bound to be moaning about the heat and it's effect on our cold beer, but I am actually looking forward to that :) It's gonna be a helluva place to be on a nice summer night.
