16 year old kid from massachusetts, who plays for Oakwood fc in conneticut (same team as Johann played for). he is currently trying out with bolton. kid has great skills, shot, and intelligence. plays midfield. however, i think he missed the entire season last year with a torn acl. he is 5'10 170. i believe he played on odp team, but not sure which one. sister is on u-20 national team. brothers play d-1 college ball. father and uncle played for torino. he has great potential

Great news. Does this club have some type of link with Bolton, somewhat interesting to see him and Johann get a trial at teh same club.

his father who is also oakwoods coach, set up both johanns trial and tomasso's. there has to be a connection, but not sure. maybe bolton thinks so highly of johann that they want to give tommaso a shot

p.s. i will try to update what happens, i think he comes back next week. (or maybe he stays in bolton :))

Is he a 90 or 91? And why are these kids able to get looks from a frikkin' EPL team but not our U17 national team?

The proper connections and it's a huge country.

I think you addressed this once.

Outside of an elite few, maybe the top 5-10, the next 100 are pretty damn close to each other.
Connections, the right club, the righ tperformance at the right time, politics all come into play.

Large Euro clubs of course have their infrastructure and $$$ in place. Other clubs have the infrastructure.

We are talking about thousands of players acrosss Europe.

We are talking about what? 400-500 on youth teams in the EPL alone.

We ccould place many, many players over there at the youth level.
There isn't some huge divide at this aage and I would bet that good/above average players here clearly show they can play there. It's not a big deal for these teams to give these guys shots. Why not?

These are mini factories and most won't make it big and taking a shot at one isn't a big deal.

I have maintained it for along time and I just see the proof mounting.

We could put hundreds of players in decent Euro youth programs. Of course a few of these guys would then pan out and be something of real substance. Most wouldn't, but would probably still be able to make good livings at the game.

It's all about the infrastructure. Money, environment, coaching, etc.

All about MLS needing youth teams, grwoing the reseves, getting better coaching, the US needing real acadamies, giving kids more opportunities.

There are a lot of kids out there who coud play somewhere over there. A lot.

The more that get the opp. the better players we will eventually find of course.

It's tough. Knowing we could place a ton of kids and eventually find a lot more legit players. Just the way it is now.

Scary thing is how much better it is getting each year and we are still just getting started. Sigh.

Sorry, not to go too far off topic, but what about the coaching situation. Are the players getting better b/c of better coaches at the youth level. It seems every time I look at a large school and/or club info, there seems to be coaches who played in college and/or pro level. Does anyone think this sort of trickle down effect of a professional league is effecting the coaching pool as well?

I think coaching has come along way already.

What hasn't is that youth development in the USA isn't in the hands of professional clubs, or organizations that can sell players to professional clubs.

Things are still managed to try and win youth championships and get kids into college. Which is probably pretty healthy in the scheme of developing human beings. But the priorities of the youth coaches isn't to select, develop and play the best pro candidates. That doesn't mean these guys don't know how to coach.

This kid was part of a U-15 get-together last year that included several players on the current team and in the current pool, so I'm sure Hack's staff has seen him and made a decision, right or wrong. Does anyone who has seen this kid play want to make a case for his inclusion based on observed on-field qualities?

i think one of the main reasons why he hasnt been on the u-17's is because the acl injury he had. he was sidelined for over a year.

    p.s. he is a 91

Yeah Tomasso is a hard-nosed center midfielder, perfect for the EPL type of play and he still has a great first touch, he kinda reminds me of his older brother who plays at JMU, I know him cause we both play for region 1. I was there when he tore his ACL at a camp at the home depot center..we were playing on turf that night.

Tommaso D'Agostino and Giancarlo D'Agostino check em out

Tommaso is currently recovering from another acl surgery. He is currently at suffield academy. This video is from the summer, i don't think there will be any doubters of his play after you watch this video.

It snowed in Massachusetts this summer?? Somebody call Al Gore!

Seriously, if the US had as many international quality players as we do videos of kids doing juggling ball tricks, we'd be winning World Cups.

Nice skill but insufficient evidence to demonstrate what kind of player he is.

And I've never seen the kid, so I'm not saying he's not a player, just that a juggling video still leaves me a 'doubter'.

I play at oakwood myself and I've A) never heard of this kid, and B) have never known oakwood to have relations with bolton. Oakwood is an indoor soccer facility in CT, and the first in the state and up until recent years the only game in town so people know the name in CT. They have always made their name with very good youth teams which I believe run until u-18's. I've had friends make and play on these teams before and they were all extremely good players. I'll keep my ears open at Oakwood for this kid.

Sorry, but Bolton doesn't really rate him very highly at all anymore.

Yet, ironically, if we don't sign a striker he may end up with some playing time later in the season.

well he's a very good player and I don't have film of him playing in games, and i don't know how juggling videos make you doubtful. And there was only snow in the football part so theres you being a smartass.
