    here
Mine: Keith Gillespie. He's getting older, but he still looks great as a right mid for Sheffield Weds. Seriously, I think he's currently better than any right mid in MLS.

His contract expires in June (according to wikipedia). And, Sheffield is teetering on the relegation ledge.

Maybe he'd want to finish his career in the states?

Doh! When I 1st started watching the EPL, Wednesday was in there. Now, whenever I hear "Sheffield" my mind fills in "Wednesday." I actually told myself not to make that mistake before I posted. And I did it anyway.

    Archie Thompson!

No, seriously...how about Patrick Kluivert, or Henrik Larsson, or one of the Neville brothers, or bring up Guillermo's brother from the USL, that would be something if the twins both played for Columbus. Fans might have fun with that. And maybe Edwin van der Sar, he's 36, but then goalies can play forever it seems, and he's still #1 goalkeeper for #1 team in the world, but perhaps in a couple years...of course Peter Schmeichel might still be able to make the DC United squad.

Omar Bravo because its more realistic, im sure some team can afford him, and he might have an even bigger fan base then Blanco brought (possibly)

Everytime one of these threads pops up, I have the same reaction -

    ROBBIE KEANE.

Why? Because he's a ball to watch. He's funny as hell in interviews. The Irish-American population are ********ing ga-ga over any Irish star who comes over here. He's got some of the greatest goal celebrations ever caught on tape.
He's a media magnet for interviews. Plus, he's got a bit of a tough guy edge - not Roy Keane level, but still, he wouldn't back down from a Jim Rome interview.

Plus, he's not TOO far outside of our price range in a year or two.

there have been rumors of his desire to quit Celtic for something a little less demanding, although those were shot down again yesterday. It would be a coup to get him, IMO.

There are tons of great and cheap south american/african/carribean players that MLS can sign.

I hate the way some people want to "britishize" MLS...

If the MLS wants to become a "superleauge" like EPL or La Liga, the leauge and teams need to go after high-profile players in their prime, not an older Beckham or Blanco, but guys like Ronaldo or Wayne Rooney right now. BTW, if MLS expands south and Beckham is still playing, he will be scared shitless when he sees some southern rednecks with 12 gauge shotguns and some Jack. If that last statement sounds stupid, I'm sorry in my idiotic attempts to make some humor.

On a "probably unrealistic" level, but not an "impossibly unrealistic" one...(like Rooney, C.Ronaldo and Ronaldinho) , I would like to see:

    Adebayor
    Obafemi Martins
    Bellamy
    Ballack
    Lehman
    Van Persie
    Alves
    Kanoute..........I could go on forever.....

Wait, if you're saying I've got an agenda to "britishize" the MLS, tell me why Gillespie wouldn't be a good fit. Otherwise, yer talking out yer azz.

"There are tons of great and cheap ....players that MLS can sign." That's the point of this thread. Name some. Name one. Otherwise you're talking out yer azz.

    Roberto Carlos.

He said he's leaving Real Madrid this summer and that he does not want to go back to Brazil.
