Well, at least he likes soccer. It would be good if MLS could turn such a high profile athlete onto their game.
Yes, and if he does get to see Beckham a couple of times this year and the cameras pick up on Johnson as a fan, maybe a few NFL fans will get to thinking it might not be such a sissy game afterall.
I don't know why you give other sports fans and other sports a minute of your time when you should know which sport is the greatest, which sport is the most followed, which sport is the most physical and by far the most entertaining game in the entire world. I don't know why I see so many similar comments on Bigsoccer. Ignore other sports and just enjoy the only beautiful game in the sports world.
Well, soccer is and has always been my number one, but it doesn't mean I can't enjoy competing "even at 45 years of age" in and watching other sports. Secondly, soccer and more specifically pro soccer still needs many more fans in the USA to guarentee its future and increase its profile. I see no reason why these new fans can't also be fans and players of other sports.
Each sport I love has its own special qualities that set it apart from the others. From overtimes in Stanley Cup hockey, to baseball's stare-downs, to the war in the trenches in gridball, to 1-and-done March Madness, to the yips in golf, the awesome physics of ski jumping and endurance of cross-country, I seem to love every sport, maybe that's why I love the Olympics so much. Of course, I cannot devote my time to every one of them at the same time, but to each I have devoted time in the past and came away with some very fond memories I wouldn't trade for anything. Like last year, I watched almost every minute I could of the hockey in Torino, and was ecstatic that Sweden won gold. I had to take a time out from everything else, put the Premier League on the back burner... The other day I ate at a new Pakistani restaurant near my home, and they were showing the Cricket World Cup on the projection big screen--about the only sport I have never understood--until I asked questions of those interested viewers there, and learned enough to have a basic understanding of what was going on, and how to read the stats on the screen. It was like a revelation for me. I could actually watch this thing, and become a fan, if I had the time.
I love this guy. My fav wide receiver. Great interview. It's always strange to see american celebrities praising soccer. Very weird. Most of the time I feel like they act this way just to please foreign people.
Well, I'm a Bengals fan and I've seen plenty of pre-game shots of Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh kicking a soccer ball back and forth during warm-ups. I've also seen him reference soccer many times in interviews. I think his preference for European footy is because of the atmosphere at the games. He's very entertaining, I just wish he'd shut up sometimes. Funny dude, but a little too "Me" orientated than I care for.
Get a life, dude. No really, get a life. Just because he doesn't watch MLS and he like the Premier League, he's a Eurosnob? Go Chad! The only NFL guy that I like.
