Good. I thought I read something just today that said Champs and next 4. Apparently not. My math SAT score was much higher...:p

Just the switch to next best 4 seems a higher standard. Consequently it will be harder. I started the "47 points" thread a long time ago. It will take every bit of that with the change.

CM for VDB. Might be a better comparison. If so, then Wolff is still just a straight subtraction...from a 5th place club.

I read one other view today, that being KC lost a great number of games by 1 goal, and we know about the ties. The author's view was Hartman will help.

    No kidding.

Enough points conserved to make up for Wolff's absence remains to be seen.

They lost to the Revs, too, IIRC.

For those people without a calculator or math skills, a 5-8-1 record equals a winning percentage of .357, significantly below .500.

can you elaborate on what bad luck stopped him please.

i would summarize it like this.....a few problems with certain coaches(he was probably hot headed when he was young), injuries and at the wrong time(last year at braga he got injured after 3 games), transfer mistakes (as in contract bein deposited late), wrong people around him (his agents really fuked it up for him on a few occasions), bad choices (choosin us in B over Cska)....and so on.

i can tell u everythn about his time at Toro but it will take me too long ....i could write somthin tomorrow.
i saw also the other thread.....and yeah if you're after a creative midfielder then u got it spot on. his passing (both long range and short) is superb.....he gets everyone running. ""playmaker "suits him right.
but he can also run with the ball and dribble....(he can dribble an whole team :p) but if he sees someone makin a piercing run he will pass and put him infront of goal. he has great vision and awareness as he plays with his head up.

    i would say
    strongest point
-assists (beatyful lobs, cuttin balls, good with crosses etc)
-unpredictable (when he gets the ball u cant help but get on your toes...u know something might happen)
    -dribble
-technical ability as a whole (this guy with the ball is as good as c.ronaldo....no its not a joke. go see him in training)

    weak points:
    - phisically he needs to get stronger imo.(when i saw one of his braga games last season he looked a little thin..he needs some preseasons training behind his belt....and i dont think he's seen many of those in the past few years).
    - charachter: i think he gets down easily in spirits....but maybe the difficulties he had to face made him stronger.
    - he's not shy of jumpin in....but not bein the tallest guy he aint that good in the air...but then again he's not a centreforward.
-defensive work...he will not pull his leg away....but again not being the biggest of guys he's not that effective in recouping balls.

i saw your blog...did u go and watch him in training?
i didnt realize owners and ppl close to the club posted here  (i just read the thread on top.....that is just incredible for club owners to be in touch with supporters that way...u dont know how lucky u are).
now i feel kinda bad for puttin this expectation on him....give him space :p
if u go to trainin just say Toro's supporters are always behind him. :D expect to be shippin some shirts over here (is there an online shop?)

I had them at 4-3-1 so I missed scores. But agian thank you to the board for pointing out every ancellary error in record time. I know you live for it.

Your unneeded sarcasm - that coming the other direction would be prosecuted - aside. It doesn't change the fact that KC has had the worst spring since Preki did his leg.

    We'll see if it matters.

That has to be the best news since Hartman, right? Call your State Senator, get this guy a Visa.

if even half of your opinions about him are proven on the field, this could turn out to be our best free agent pickup ever. i particularly like your evaluation of his technical skills. i really hope you're right.

do we know if he's going to be eligible for our match in dc or is this just speculation that he may need to wait awhlie for his work visa?

Yes I was able to making it out to training the other day. Carlos looked pretty good at times. He played a great ball over the top to one of the forwards, and was able to find some space.

On the ownership thing, we're just now getting to enjoy this perk. Until the team was sold last August, we were owned by the same guy that owned the KC Chiefs, the areas American football team. The Wizards were basically treated like the red headed step child at times getting very little advertising once the team went on the market. It's surprising how many MLS front office people read these boards, we've heard at one time or another that our old GM read the boards, and that numerous other teams have from office people either reading their boards or posting themselves.

Yes we do have a shop: http://www.mlsgear.com/team.asp?Check=True&CAT=cat-teams-kc-wizards&MENU=menu0&SUB=sub6
Although there is not a lot in it for sale online right now.

Okay, all these people keep sending us congradulations and good luck for Carlos, etc. I havn't seen anything official yet, though. Do we know for sure we're getting this guy, or is this just optimistism that a contract will go down? Last I heard the FO was trying really hard to get a contract down but nothing was worked out yet.

Actually this is one of the nice things about not playing on opening weekend. We still have time for him to train with the team before an actual game.

Anybody remember the last time we signed an player from Argentina? How many months of the season did Dario Fabbro miss before all his visa paperwork was finally in order?

Is there any reason to hope that this time will be better?

Well was Dario training with us during the season before all that was worked out? Cause if he was, then my point is mute, but if he wasn't then it's a good sign that Carlos is already here training with the team.

I heard he has no VISA problem. Matt heard it said too.

when we presented Curt Onalfo with his scarf, Curt mentioned working Carlos into the midfield in the first several games of the season. So, to me, it looks like the team is sure he's gonna sign.
