Why not Gomes? I watch him every week and without him and a with normal keeper PSV would have at least 6 points less on the table. Every Dutch football fan will agree that Gomes is one of the best keepers they ever seen. (top 5 or 10 of the world right know)
He has saved us again against Arsenal.... He's better then Helton for sure, bad keeper....

i made my argument in favor of gomes a page or two back. what's more impressive with him is the sheer number of goals that are scored in the eredivisie...and gomes has only allowed 15.

8 teams have scored over 40 goals in less than 30 games. that's a pretty good stat.

You can't attribute that all to Gomes. The defense plays a major role in stats like that. At Cruzeiro, Gomes was a bit overrated because he had an amazing defense in front of him.

im not attributing it all to gomes. it's also the same with doni playing behind mexes and chivu. but i think gomes' stellar play is often the difference. i dunno, i think there's a reason why psv fans worship him...just like it isnt all the defense. i think you need to have both working to be truly unstoppable i guess. i guess that's why any brazilian keeper will never replicate his performances for us. our defense is just too weak.

Goalkeepers isn't all about stats... The clean sheets and things like that were the defense is important. But individuel prestations NOT..

His saves are important, he is often chosen as the best keeper of the week in the CL..
I can call you a lot important matches he saves us. We had Waterreus (dutch international.....) before him... And with him we would have lost these matches in the CL , important matches ->

    AC Milan-PSV 0-0
    PSV-AC Milan 1-0
    Milan-PSV 2-0
    Lyon-PSV 1-1
    PSV-Lyon 1-1
    PSV-Monaco 1-0
    PSV-Arsenal 1-0
    Arsenal-PSV 1-1

and much more dutch league matches
If you want a objective opinion ask some Ajax fans, they hate PSV and almost every player, but they will agree Gomes is one of the best keepers in the world.

But I don't agree Helton is a good keeper... He's just from a decent level...

And why isn't you defence good. You have great defenders with Cris, Alex and more. Better then PSV their defence ;) I have know idea why they couldn't play good together

What about the Lyon game last year? When your defense got abused, Gomes was helpless. Gomes also had a fatal mistake if I recall correctly during the first game of that matchup on a free kick.

About our defenders, I agree that we have good CBs, but we need to find the correct pairing. Personally, I'd like to see Alex and Juan play together.

wow that's too bad. alex seems to be pretty injury prone as of late. it's really preventing him from settling on our national team.

like mengao said, i want to see naldo...but im not sure if dunga will call up a new guy. i think we might end up seeing cris or something.

All I ask is for Dunga to start Alex of PSV. Has he ever played for Brasil? I know he's be called up before but I don't remember if he got playing time.

The rest of the season? Damn, I wanted to see him play for us in the Copa America. I guess I will have to wait to see the pairing of Juan and Alex. :(

    Dunga, call up NALDO!!

    NALDO IS CALLED UP :D

and edu dracena. so all is well in the universe. :)

it's nice to see dracena called up since he's been largely forgotten in his time at fenerbahce. i guess dunga forgot about alex (ex palmeiras)...but he does know about the turkish league though!

Excellent news. I have heard good things about Dracena for the past few months but I wasn't too sure how good he has been playing. Finally Dunga made some great choices..

I would imagine against you guys we would play a 352 (personally, I would prefer a 442 but Acosta--the coach--has been experimenting with a 352 plus he's used that system before).

    GK: Bravo

    CB: J. Vargas
    SW: W. Ponce
    CB: P. Contreras

    DM: C. Maldonado
    DM: M. Iturra
    RWB: LP Figueroa
    LWB: M. Gonzalez
    AM: M. Fernandez

    FW: H. Suazo
    FW: R. Navia/L. Jimenez

    --

If we went with a more solid 442:

    GK: Bravo
    RB: B. Rieloff
    CB: J. Vargas
    CB: P. Contreras/W. Ponce
    LB: R. Tello

    DM: C. Maldonado
CM/RM: M. Iturra/J. Valdivia (if he wants more protection for the back 4, we would use Iturra as a 2nd DM/CM; if we want to be a little more "adventurous" Valdivia would play on the right)
    LM: M. Gonzalez
    AM: M. Fernandez

    FW: H. Suazo
    FW: R. Navia/L. Jimenez

Rafael Sobis has been cut due to a knee injury. no word on the severity, but it is believed to be another ligament injury--like the 5th to have affected a brazilian player in the past 2 weeks.

dunga will be calling up a replacement shortly. my guess is either ronaldo or adriano.
