I know I'm biased, but the Rowdies had, still have, the best uniforms ever. If the Rowdies ever come back, they must keep the green and yellow hooped socks and sleeves. The chest logo will probably be replaced by a sponsor, but the hoops gotta stay.

    Falvo,
I loved that poster when I was a kid. Nice post.

Tampa Bay did have great uniforms. Outside of the Caribous I liked almost all of the NASL uniforms and logos better than the MLS. And you have to give Colorado credit for creativitiy. The NASL proved there was an alternative to naming soccer teams without the "european" model and not sounding like a WNBA team.

I don't believe that's correct. The elephant itself represents the Memphis Rogues.

As near as I can figure out, here's the breakdown of the teams represented...

New York Cosmos: Player wearing crown, seated on throne.

    Memphis Rogues: elephant

Minnesota Kicks: Player hanging on to elephant's ear.

    Chicago Sting: bee

    California Surf: Person holding surfboard.

Edmonton Drillers: Person standing next to oil derrick, spinning ball on finger.

Tulsa Roughnecks: Person wearing hardhat, holding giant wrench.

Washington Diplomats: Person about to tip his top-hat.

Fort Lauderdale Strikers: Player wearing Strikers' hooped jersey.

Vancouver Whitecaps: Player whose white cap is being crushed by "Biggest Kick in Town" sign.

San Diego Sockers: Player with black-eye who is kicking.

    Dallas Tornado: tornado

    Detroit Express: car

Toronto Blizzard: Player wearing woolen hat and earmuffs, with maple leaf on jersey.

Portland Timbers: Player wearing plaid shirt, leaning on axe.

New England Tea Men: Person wearing tri-cornered hat and colonial garb, holding rifle.

Atlanta Chiefs: Player wearing Native American headdress.

Tampa Bay Rowdies: Player wearing Rowdies' jersey with hooped sleeves.

Rochester Lancers: Knight in armor, holding lance.

Los Angeles Aztecs: Person wearing Aztec headress and clothing.

Seattle Sounders: Person wearing sea captain's garb, with telescope under arm, pipe in mouth and "S" on hat.

Houston Hurricane: Pilot with travel bag emblazoned with Hurricane's logo.

Philadelphia Fury: Crazed looking creature, wearing hat emblazoned with "F" in Philadelphia's trademark font.

San Jose Earthquakes: Fissure in earth opening up between Philadelphia Fury mascot's legs.

There's a possibility that the player hanging on the elephant's ear represents the San Diego Sockers, while the player kicking next to the car represents the Minnesota Kicks. It all depends upon whether you think that the way the latter character is kicking represents the figure in the Kicks' actual logo, or whether the dark circle around one of his eyes represents the black eye that appears on the figure in the Sockers' first logo.

It's just fricking redundant to put the same stuff in the "NASL thread" and the "What happened to the NASL thread," Mr. That Game Wasn't on Television.

    MOD'S NOTE

If Falvo was posting in related threads in a similar forum, I would agree. But Soccer in the USA attracts a lot different clientele than MLS: Expansion & Stadiums. And the San Jose thread is regional soccer history. I don't see an issue with him sharing his collection in different forums.

    Fine, fair enough. Apologies.

But I think a lot of NASL-philes would subscribe to both threads.
