So he's moved the the Premier League and Cissé is still out of commission.

Anyone think he might be called up eventually?

He pledged good will concerning the French squad after he was excluded from the WC06 group, yet I wonder if Domenech can overcome his past feud with him.

Personally, I still consider him as a valuable asset.

It's understandable that Anelka wasn't chosen yesterday. Let's see what he does with Bolton and if Govou can maintain the sort of form he displayed against Italy. After that, we'll be able to lash out at Domenech ! :D

How is Anelka doing at Bolton anyway? I think he's scored a goal or two and that his work rate has been good but I don't think he's blown the roof off of the club or anything.

I'm just going by what I just read in the news I could find but I havent watched any of the games he's played.

Finally, it's about time Anelka gets called up once again, i think he is a very talented player who needs to be in the national team, hopefully domenech lets him play and doesn't treat him like he treated trezeguet in the WC.

i want to see him get time against scotland! i'll go farther. i'd rather see him come to OL than trezeguet!

btw, squillacci has been picked for this pair of matches too. what's the connection? normally you have to shine with your club to earn your NT spot. right now with les bleus and OL, it's good showings international showings that help you win club recognition! so if nico knocks in a couple this week, GH might decide he wants him after all!

But he just moved to Bolton...does he really want to be knocked about like a pinball? Although I guess that's been his style up until now...

Nicolas Anelka is doing better at Bolton. He has scored 8 goals now. I think Domenech has an Henry-Anelka partnership in mind.

Nico ! Nico ! He even answers to journalists now ! Incredible how he has changed, he's coming on the Bright Side of the Force !

He suffered alone against Lithuania but he still was the classiest in offense. A little opportunity and hop ! Scored the winner on his own. :)

It was like they were expecting miracles from him, stranded up there all on his own. But he delivered in the end.

Indeed. Anelka... hopefully this is the sign that his career has been revitlized. I think his brothers have gotten enough money from his football exploits. I hope that he is the one making decisions since moving back to England.

At the rate he's going now, you might need special googles ; the ones they use to observe nuclear explosions !

stop me if you've heard this before, kids...

    too late! :D

i'd signed on to the general opinion that anelka was a spoiled brat, his own worst enemy, would never fit in anywhere...

and then in 2004 my son's club dedicated their stadium to the memory of marc-vivien foé...

and of all the stars expected, who braved the crowds and traffic and actually showed? and signed autographs in the hot sun for 45 minutes?
    that's right.
why did he do it? maybe for marco, who had been his teammate for a season at city. maybe for the kids. but basically because he's just a stand-up guy. since then, i've been a fan; of the man if not always of the player.
