You are right, we can't expect our politicians to care when we only elect ignorant thiefs to office.

The two real teams with good fan support and pack stadiums are Esteli(about two hours from the capital) and Diriamba(close to the Costa Rican border) and their players make up the bulk of the national team. Esteli has a more solid defense while Diriangen might be more entertaining to watch.

One thing Haiti did in 1998 when they were rebuilding their futbol program after war and natural disasters was to go to Miami, and hold an open tryout for all the displaced Hatians and Hatian-Americans to bolster their national team, and they did choose several players.

There are hundreds of thousands of Nicaraguans in Miami, and Miami has a serious soccer culture with several Nicaraguan teams, and a very good one that competes in the Copa Latina(the largest amateur tournament in the Southeastern US where players are scouted regularly by professional clubs and colleges).

    www.copalatina.com

Honduras has a Honduran-American player not quite good enough to make the US by starts for them, and so does El Salvador and Jamaica. St. Vincent and Trinidad also have some decent players that were raised in the US.

Maybe Nicaragua could try something like this?

I wish that Nicaragua did something like this. Unfortunately we don't have the foresight to implement such a program. Nicaraguan doesn't look ahead but to the next game. It's a fault on our part.

Thanks Alandj and Antonio81. I'll check out the website and try to find some schedule information. I guess Nicarauga is different from most of CA soccer in that the capitol doesn't have the dominant clubs. Both of the teams that Antonio mentioned seem to be a pretty good distance from Managua. Again, thanks for the info and we'll do our best to catch a game.

Antonio81 is right when he says the both cities are far from the capital, but I suggest going to Diriamba (I'm assuming you will be in the capital), it's about a 45 minute drive (or 1:30 bus ride) from the capital. It's also a very nice quiet ride once your leave the capital city limits. I'm partial towards Diriamba because I was born there. Let me know if you need more info.

I think De los Toros, has been putting the Nicaragua squad in alot of pressure, i mean he has pretty much been calling out everyone in the group. I don't know if that's good for you Nicas or not?

I knew Rudel, I played with him several years ago when they had just brought him in from Bluefields, but I haven`t been back there since 2004. However, Nicaragua now has several players playing outside the country so I doubt he`s still the best. He was fast and had a decent shot.

I'm not really sure. I know that the Nicaraguan League doesn't pay players very good so they have to get other jobs to maintain themselves. Maybe they just gave up playing soccer and now work in factory somewhere.

Diriamba and Esteli pay somewhat decent salaries. The best players make around $1,500-$2,000, which while isn`t much in America or Western Europe goes along way down there. Parmalat in Managua(which is gone now and has been replaced by America) pays good too. The rest of the teams for the most part pay but not enough to live off, unless you`re the star, or an extranjero.

    You have to be positive.

Just losing 1-0 to Guatemala and 2-1 to El Salvador were good results.

haha well you should learn not to generalize..

btw there is a great German community in Nicaragua, so I wouldn't be surprise if the guy that lives in Germany has is of German descent

Yea, i live in Kaiserslautern Germany, one of the cities that hosted the world cup. I went to some of the games, and almost all the pre and after parties.

It's a good place to be for soccer :)

PS. I did grow up in the United States, I just moved here because I got a better job.
