As usual, very discontinuous. Shines for a game (usually a French cup game), then eclypses again. Too bad, because he IS talented...

Maybe you'd like to hear something from a German? ;)

A few years ago, Takahara was called a "Chancentod" (It's a German term for someone who misses the best chances to score), however this has changed since he plays for Frankfurt. He is an important part of the team, scores regularly and there have been some real "beauties" among the goals he scored this season. He looks much more mature as a striker, he has gotten this "killer instinct" which we could already start seeing in Japan's match against Germany before the World Cup. The Reporter yesterday was praising him, saying he was one of the best players on the pitch.

I'm disapponted at Ogasawara's current situation, considering his achivements in J-League. He is shy and probably isn't suited to play outside Japan.

Abysmal defending on his second, but that first goal was a very, very difficult finish. Takahara is looking like the player we thought he could be a decade ago.

For Takahara, Inamoto, Nakamura and Morimoto -if possible- use their specific threads.

If you think any other player abroad deserves a thread, please feel free to open one, just make sure his name is in the thread's title.

Thank You for all your contributions!! :D

we should have a sub-forum for Japanese abroad like the Aussies though I prefer a J. League sub-forum to a Japanese abroad one. ;)

    Good.
Is this goal his 6th or 7th goal of the season?
I hope his team go to Primera Division.

    Oguro played 30 minutes.
Nakata played full match and assisted one goal.

    Italian Serie A

    Oguro (Torino) played 30 minutes.
    Morimoto (Catania) played 45 minutes.

Morimoto got very good ratings from Italian newspaper (all around 6.5 or 7). The Catania goal was 50% thanks to him... His header was almost goal, the Siena goalkeeper saved, and Morimoto's teammate Corona made an easy tap-in for the Catania goal.

here's Morimoto rating from a Catania unofficial website http://www.mondocatania.com/ct/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1627
Morimoto 6,5 Better than Mascara (the player he replaced), showing from the very beginning an excellent shape and a good dynamism. Crucial and decisive in the goal, set on an angle the header with great intelligence, making the Corona tap-in easy after the Manninger save. A guy we can rely upon with certainty.

    Next match Oguro vs Morimoto!!!
Torino vs Catania: next weekend, Sunday early morning! March 11th (night between Saturday and Sunday) at 04.30am Japanese Time.
Morimoto should start for Catania (Mascara is injured), while Oguro should play the second half for Torino.
    Sounds like fun :D

Go Morimoto! In Italy everyone speaks about this 18 years old prospect... He's getting even more famous than Nakata in Italy.

Re: Japanese Abroad 2006-2007 Part II [R]

This is a bit of an overstatement: he is popular, but nakata scored two goal against Juventus on his debut... let's give Morimoto time to grow...

By the way, why not discussing him in his own thread...?

Re: Japanese Abroad 2006-2007 Part II [R]

Morimoto is only 18, while Nakata was "already" 21. There is a difference: it's plenty of 21 years old players in Serie A (and in the top European Leagues), while it's very difficult to find 18 y.o. players already able to play (and to score) at this high levels. Very, very difficult.

Then Morimoto scored like Nakata in his Serie A debut, and though the rivals (Atalanta) were less important than Juventus, consider that his goal was scored at the 90' minute and meant an important draw (1-1) for his team, while when Nakata scored 2 goals Juventus was already winning 3-0 over Perugia and was kind of a finished match, with Juventus defense relaxed (then Juventus scored immediately afterwards to set a 4-2 that became 4-3 with a 89' minutes goal by Perugia... but the match was more or less finished on the 3-0, before Nakata's goals).
This to say that the two goals by 21 y.o. Nakata in an almost-finished match didn't impress much in Italy, while the eqalizer goal by 18 y.o. Morimoto impressed much more.
Add that Morimoto seems to be physically more fit to play in Italy and in Europe than Nakata (who was a bit weak physically) and than many other Japanese players who are good technically but not enough strong physically.
Morimoto has the skill, has the tecnique, has the athletic power, has the dynamism, has the contact game (his shoulder-to-shoulder push while running impressed many Italian defenders) to perform well. And he is only 18! In Italy fans and media are following him a lot, in Italy he's already more famous than Nakata at his top.
Well, it's true maybe we should discuss this in the Morimoto's thread...
