Pay attention to the commentary on number three. We can all agree with the commentary for goal number one.

I'm not sure it's the best goal ever, but given the wide range of goals mentioned here I'm shocked it hasn't come up (and I'm sorry not to have video)...Paolo DiCanio's goal for West Ham against Wimbledon in 2000. Sinclair hits a diagonal ball from midfield that Paolo hits with a full kung fu scissor and rockets into the far corner. I think it was EPL goal of the year that year.

Jermain Beckford for Scunthorpe vs. Rotherham. Little game but just look at the first goal, great skill and finish.

I forgot to add this, Totti's superb volley against Sampdoria. Scored with his left foot as well.

I really don't care what people think about Totti anymore. We as Italians know that he is right up there with Ronaldinho as the most talented player on the planet. Ronaldinho just gets attention because he's Brazilian and he feels the need to do a trick every time he gets the ball. Totti can do all that stuff too, he just does it at the right time:

Like I said, only Italians know the true worth of Totti. He will always be misunderstood to the rest of the world.

Great response. But that video is an even better answer.

If they're English, there's a good chance that 99 per cent of them are blind-folded. They will get excited over Beckham instead.

My top 2 never seen before (or since) goals scored:

    1: Manuel Negrete vs. Bulgaria:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJ46AkcI6fY

His control is sublime already before the goal. He traps a wayward ball with his left foot and 1/2 volleys it to his teamate in the midst of defenders, who 1/2 volleys it back, and he perform a scissors kick just inside the penalty box. They could never do this again if they tried a 1000 times.

It should be noted this (not Diego vs. England) was voted the best goal at WC86.

    2. Eder vs. USSR:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RB9ZeBvNXs

Another unduplicatable goal. Isodoro on the right wing passes it towards Falcao, who instead of touching the ball perfects a dummy which leaves Eder rushing in from 25 yards away to half volley it to himself in full motion before firing a rocket which leaves the keeper unable to move.

Oktay Derelioglu, 4/30/97, Turkey - Belgium in WC98 qualifiers. Turkey lost 3-1 thanks to 3 goals from mercenary Brazilian-Belgian Luis Oliveira, ending their World Cup hopes (this match ended up deciding who qualified) but resulting in this gem:

Turkish commentator Hıncal Uluç called the goal "fool's courage," I call it "way better than Maradona's solo run." Sorry for the low quality.

serie a - season 1990-91 - best goals of the season

Lots of great players... lot's of awesome goals. Made me think that that was really a golden era for football (certainly it was for italian calcio). The one I liked more was the one by Daniel Fonseca for cagliari. I could be slightly biased though...

For me it's Ancelotti or Gullit. You could never narrow that down to one, they were all superb finishes. Serie A really was the best.

without question Giggs goal against Arsenal was one of the greatest goals ever scored not only because of the sheer skill and determination portrayed by Ryan to get that goal in that semi-final but also because of the circumstances of that game and how it was another stepping stone to United winning the TREBLE. Somebody needed to step up and take control and Giggsy did just that!
