Id go with volleyball but yeah soccer's up there (women's football league was sure a hit)
anything to raise soccer's profile i think this could either flop or pay off big

the only fear i have is it said "help form MLS"
does the MLS have the resources to help a whole nother league get off the ground when its own is barely off as it is?

I hope MLS and the ladies decide to test out the double header idea.

Back in college, I used to attend women's and men's basketball doubleheaders and enjoyed it a lot.

Fans of the ladies game are able to attend the early game, and then stick around to catch part of the men's game.

And fans of the mens game can arrive early and catch the end of the ladies game.

And, of course, true die-hard fans can watch both games in their entirity.

I like the idea of Double Headers. I beleive the WUSA leauge had a ton of draw for family and girl soccer clubs. A bunch of thier games if I recall were afternoon games. You put that as an early game on a Saturday before an MLS draw (Especially say Men's game from Chicago here, and you have a women's Chicago game here before hand) and I think you will see a larger attendance at the Men's game especially at the start of a game.

Oh great, just what we need more little girls who would rather fidget with each other than watch the game......but enough about Tex and Baloonpie :D

I think it is safe to say that MLS ownership has shown considerable restraint on spending, so I'd doubt they would throw away money.

So how would Chicago decide which team plays in which game?

Reppage. I was thinking, isn't there already a soccer team made up of girls in Chicago.

First of all, I would quibble with the characterization of MLS being "barely off the ground"....I think the league is way past that point right now. Secondly, "help from MLS" doesn't mean full financial support, it doesn't mean they will be bankrolling the thing in its entirety. It just means exactly what it states....help. I hardly think lending the WUSA some assistance in getting up and running while simultaneously filling additional dates at league owned venues is going to threaten MLS's future.

The only thing that will be bad about the Womens Team in Dallas is that they will be getting the same type of local media coverage that FC Dallas has been getting.

Other then that, I see no other negatives in a Womens Pro Soccer team in Dallas.

I would love to see Heather Mitts in Dallas, but her boyfriend, AJ Feeley is a Philadelphia Eagles QB and that would not sit well in Dallas.

Unless of course, Mitts and Feeley broke up a long time ago.

that's what the NFL once said to Lamar Hunt when he wanted to invest in soccer teams several decades ago.

If we sign Heather Mitts, I'm getting tickets. Lori Fair ain't bad, either.

...And then they need to schedule friendlies with the Swedish and Icelandic women's teams. OMG!

Yes, Mia retired and is now living off the $2 million that her husband, Nomar Garciaparra is making for half a season of baseball.
