Re: Zidane rumor (link included) This was covered on another board. He is here for business with Adidas in terms of marketing, not MLS. Although I'd love to see him on our squad.
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) No, we'd have Reyna deep and Zizou upfield. But we'd have to have some serious workrate at the other two midfield spots. Neither of these guys is exactly going to cover acres of territory defensively.
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) The man hasn't really played in the US. The man has a movie to promote that can easily be hyped that much more if he just even remotely graced the playing fields of MLS. THE MAN can do whatever the f#*$ he wants if he became an MLS player, it would be a media firestorm if he came out of retirement just to walk out and headbutt Joey Franchino on the nose. I for one would love it if he took time out to play one more season, even if it was for fun...
Re: Zidane in the City...right now not for at least five more years. Or more. When he's out of his prime.
Re: Zidane in the City...right now I was nice to Youri! I thought Youri was awesome! Though I did hear somewhere that Youri gave Zidane less than glowing reviews of his experience with Metros/Red Bulls.
Re: Zidane in the City...right now http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/article.php?article_id=8612 Bigapple adds to the rumor...and metro 1026 (this thread creator) gets kudos from me for not BSing us...
Re: Zidane in the City...right now I don't know why he would give us bad report as we let him go back home for a month in the middle of the season then gave him game off when we were fighting for playoff birth to do some diplomatic thing. Our coaches never gave him a hard time about anything or so it seemed. I could not see any team being any nicer to a guy than the Red Bulls/Metros were. I do not see him turnoing on us as he might be a coach/executive for red Bull one day , here or in Europe. I believe he would only give a positive one to Zidane or anyone else. We even brought his young little buddy Ikangu to our team though he never showed much.
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) I hold no hope he'd sign but if he did, ZZ takes Youri's place and Claudio takes Amado's place. I'd say right away this is a much improved line-up from last year.
Re: Zidane in the City...right now I think the bad review (p.s. this was little more than an unsubstantiated rumor) came in '05, so prior to Red Bull and the other events you mention.
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) Guys, I know this is a lot to swallow all on one day but, Santa? Not real... Zidane? Retired... Grab a box of Kleenex and have a good cry. You'll feel better in the morning. and for the record yes, I will be more than happy to eat the crow if I'm wrong on either front.
Re: Zidane in the City...right now Good idea....visit NY in February! Who would want to go to Rio after all?
Re: Zidane in the City...right now Thierry: The World's Most Famous Arena? I do not see it, Zee. I really do not. Those Knicks suck anyway. Zidane: I check it out. If it sucks, I leave at halftime.
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) Here's a blurb from the N.Y. Post http://www.nypost.com/seven/02072007/gossip/pagesix/we_hear_______pagesix_.htm
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) any player with this attitude can stay the f#ck in time out and off the field...
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) Sorry, I don't see this happening and I haven't heard a word about it.
Re: Zidane rumor (link included) I was at the Roma-Real game he "didn't really play" in @ Giants Stadium a few years ago. He "didn't really play" amazingly well in that game. And, I'm content that he's retired, just like I'm content that 1 Zidane thread is enough. Please guys, stop posting new threads where there is already one existing.
Re: Zidane in the City...right now Yeah, we need to give the racismo a rest guys, before we have to start locking threads & what not. Thx.
Re: Zidane In NY, threads merged. Does anyone out there have the real scoop on this Zidane thing? I don't know why there is such a big huch, huch about these signings! Do you guys think RBNY in recent weeks made outlandish statements to the press to keep everyone of their trail with Zidane...whats the real deal here? Does anyone really know anything? I read this story about Zidane today in SI news, about what he maybe doing here in the United States...let me know your thoughts! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/scorecard/02/08/truth.rumors.soccer/index.html
