Well, not much to say about this, except we need to get some real points on the board...

Another addition to the injury list... Sergio Bernal has got a sprain in his left ankle - doesn't sound much, but I sprained my right wrist Monday, and it hurt like f*ck, and could not use it at all, and what with the wife being away, I was fit to burst, if you see what I mean. This is rotten luck for Sergio, it also means he will miss his chance to travel with El Tri, being replaced by Jose de Jesus Corona. Bernal out

Pedro Solis still training with 1st team, Tuca says this will be looked at week-to-week... as far as I can tell then, the full injury list we have for tomorrow is:-
    Bernal
    Scocco
    Gonzalez
    Chupa (I think)
    Ailton

    sucks, doesn't it?

just back. Seems Chupa wasn't injured

very good solid performance, controlled most of the game, and best of all, Scocco came on late, looked fit, looked very very good, and scored.

Anyone know if Velarde was dropped or injured?

Great to get the 3 points under our belts, and wholly deserved

Finally, a victory. Hopefully the first of many.

Not sure what happened to Velarde, but I know he wasn't on the bench.

Couldn´t go to the game, but still great that we won. KEY victory. Gained 3 points more on Santos, and tied Tigres. Also after the San Luis win, it also helps us. Also now is the start of a tough road ahead with Toluca, the key game against Santos, Pachuca and Cruz Azul so as I said its a KEY victory.

I caught the game on Univision, but speak little to no Spanish. Which isn't a problem when you're watching a game. We all speak that language, but I was wondering who gave the assist to either goal?

Was it Brown that messed up with Ortiz and gave PUMAS their best non-scoring chance 25th minute ish?

Hi, and welcome, The first was a cross from Fernando Espinoza, met by Ariel "Chupa" Lopez - Espinoza was playing left back in place of Efrian Velarde

the other goal was Jose Luis "Parejita" Lopez heading back to Ignacon Scocco, who had got himself space on the penalty spot.

If you want to know more about these players, or anything Puma-related, ask here, or check my English language Pumas blog - I usually get match reports up Monday mornings, maybe sooner... http://pumas-blog.blogspot.com/ check the Index for the player profiles.

Thanks. I saw it all happen, I just didn't catch the names. Pumas looked real good.

    Nice blog by the way.

To me there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a player give up a chance at goal and pass it to a better positioned teammate. Parejita could have tried to be the hero today, but saw Scocco and gave him a sitter. Game over. A huge win, and 3 precious points.

Great game, awesome win. We dominated the first half and looked good in the second. Great to see Scocco back in style. Whos next?

We have Toluca away next. Unless you mean which player will be back next, I think the expected order of return is Gonzalez, Ailton, Bernal. Not sure what happened to Velarde. Not started this season on top top form, but surely not dropped?

Yeah, Leon, we just controlled the whole first half, and although it slipped a bit second, glad to see we are back to concentrating for full 90 mins, after Veracruz - Pikolin and Veron awesome throughout, Parejita had a great game to, and really Leandro and Sancho bossed the centre of the park for most of the day - all good stuff....

Yeah I meant who we were playing next. Toluca looks tough, especially considering they got Vicente Sanchez back. Still I'm confident. The only thing I'm worried about is the idiots causing all the trouble at the stadiums. But at least were not the only ones doing it. Theres retards from Italy and Monterrey doing that shit. Nevertheless it should be stopped.

indeed, I wonder if Italy will get a 9 year ban from Europe.... doubt it....

I think we have disagreed slightly on this in the past, Whilst I agree there are some people causing problems, what I hate to see his how the authorities and press are reacting all wrong to this - and unless they change it will get worse, not better.

The trite phrases "few bad apples", "thugs", "lock em up", etc do not help us. We have to study what is happening, and learn from previous experiences.

You know I was in Veracruz, and I saw exactly what happened. Basically not much, it was a situation which had a mild potential for problems. Unfortunately poor policing, and aggressive tactics by the navy lads ensured that any and all possible problems came to the fore there. Of course there were a few idiots (maybe 4 or 5 in total) wanting to cause problems, but as soon as I walked into the stadium you could see in the eyes of the boys in white that they were "up for it"... its sad, because if they do not start to police it better it will get worse and worse, and my experiences here in Mexico tell me that there is no reason for violence in football stadiums to increase.

If the authorities insist on fighting smoke with fire, we are heading down a dangerous path....

I can see what youre saying and completely agree. You have the advantage of being able to go to these games and seeing what really goes on. Its the media that really puts the twist on it. I wouldn't know though. It could be the cops using excessive force first or the guys at the barras. All we really get out of it is that the supporters are always the ones starting the trouble.

We never see the cops using that excessive force or maybe even aggrivating the supporters. But maybe sometimes it is just a whole group of idiots causing trouble. At least I can defenitely see that being the case in Italy and not necessarily in Mexico.

In Italy I imagine the tension really escalated and the cops were forced into using force resulting in the death of one of them. In Mexico I figure the crowd got a bit rowdy and the cops used force when perhaps there may have been no need for it.

I may be wrong, but I defenitely see how were no getting the full story from the media.

    quite right, we rarely do.

Its not so much of a case of the police charging in, but here's two examples from Veracruz.

The biggest thing kicked off when the navy kids followed a lad into the rebel. Now this lad could easily have been up to no good, I don't know... but a huge number of them followed him very very slowly until he was right in the biggest and most fuerte area - so now you had masses of them standing and facing the pumas fans, at which point they went in trying to get this lad, flayling their sticks - fairly predictably it kicked off..

secondly away from this action I saw a bloke (about 40) throw his (cardboard) beer cup away, a security office shouted at him not too. His mate apologised immediately, told the office he was correct, and said he would stop him. Within 2 minutes these two had 4 officers surrounding them, waving sticks in their faces, they were both being conciliatory. A jefe came along to shout at the guy again “do it again you’ll get chucked out”, all the time these two, both in their spoken and body language were showing they were not wanting to get involved in anything. It ended up with this slightly drunk fan actually calming the security people down – when there really was not threat at all.

Its in-your-face aggressive policing like that which will always escalate a tense situation – they either are too thick to realise this, or fancy a bit of action themselves (they are armed, remember) – its probably a mixture of the two…..
