Bears because they have a better defense, and teams with better defense have a greater chance of winning.
colts. better team, classier people (lovie smith excepted), more playoff experience, much much better quarterback and offense, and a defense that has been playing more than well enough to shut down Rex Grossman who shouldn't even be in the NFL. the bears might have, statistically, a better D coming out of the regular season, but they came from the super weak NFC and beat a crappy seattle team that was lucky to be in the playoffs and a Saints team that laid down and handed the game to the bears to get to the SB while Indy has shut down everyone in the playoffs, including a team with a better D than the Bears (the ravens...in baltimore, no less) and the team of the decade (the pats). the playoffs are where it really counts, not the regular season, a lesson I believe the colts have finally learned.
Be thankful you weren't playing the iggles. Plus, Bears fans might have been more polite if Reggie Bush didn't pull that punk bitch move during his TD run.
the Katrina related signs they made before the game had nothing to do with Reggie's "punk bitch move".
The Bears have the defense to win it, but I think that the Colts' offense will score enough to put pressure on the Bears. Rex will make one-too-many mistakes and the Colts win. Colts 31, Bears 24
Every Bear fan I've talked to was just as appalled by those signs as you were. One person in our section made a Katrina comment, and everyone pretty much told him to cut that **** out right away. If we run the ball and pressure Manning, we'll win. If we can't establish the run, can't protect Grossman, and can't pressure Manning, we're gonna lose.
The Colts will win. They have Peyton Manning as their Q.B., and the Bears don't have Jim McMahon anymore... Instead, they have Rex Grossman. And while it is true that defense wins championships, you still have to score offensively as well. The Colts can rack up the points in bunches..And they have the best clutch field goal kicker, ever..
I think the Colts will win it. Rex Grossman sux and he will be their downfall. I say the Colts win it 27-17
My guess is any decent human being would be appaled at those signs, wherever they're from. As a Colts fan, the only thing I fear about the Bears is kick and punt returns, as well as turnovers. Bears have a good d, yes, but the colts have beaten a better d already in this playoff (baltimore). "pressuring manning" starts with good coverage, and we all know the bears secondary is not one of the league's best. If all you can do is blitz, Manning will eat you alive, he excels in those circumstances. Bears have a decent running game, but so did the Chiefs, Ravens, and Pats, all of whom the colts have shut down. No way Grossman is going to have a big passing game against Sanders/Freeney/Mathis and company, no way. The bears have good "heart", yes, but so do the Colts, and the Colts add to that a hell of alot more playoff experience. There is nothing the Bears bring to the table the Colts have not already overcome, except the special teams element, which the Colts have struggled with all season. If the colts can avoid the turnovers and play well enough against returns, I dont see how the Bears can beat them. ...if things go to form. of course this is why they play the games. either way, congrats to the bears for making it to the big show.
I'm gonna have to go with the Colts in this one. Peyton Manning deserves a Super Bowl win. He is probably the best QB in the league, and deserves at least one title.
Which team should I root for in this game? Reason for me to root for the Chicago Bears: Some of my relatives live in Chicago, and I've visited Chicago before (never been to Indianapolis). Reason for me to root for the Indianapolis Colts: I have some family friends in Indianapolis, and it would be interesting to see Peyton Manning finally win a Super Bowl. -G
Seriously, I hope the Colts win on Sunday that would be great especially for Peyton. I wonder how Jim Mora feels about the Colts chances of winning Super Bowl XLI?
This one is a really hard one to tell because they are both excellent teams. On one hand, we got one of the best offensive team that can pull off amazing plays. Then we got a team with the best defense this year. I remember a couple years back when Raiders played against Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl. Raiders had the best offensive at the time and Tampa had the best defense. Tampa end winning because the Raider's offense could not produce any points against Tampa's defense. If you look at Colts past games against the Broncos, you can see Manning struggling because Champ Baily is very good at intercepting the ball. If Bears can force Colts to make run plays then they have a high chance of winning because Colt's run plays are not as good as thier pass plays. Bears have their flaws too because Rex is very inconsistent. If Rex fails to play his best on sunday then there is a high chance that Colts will win.
you guys are forgeting that the bears are one of the highest scorers on defencive scores and also than mannning throws a lot of picks when put under-pressure, it doesnt matter if rex has a stinker of a game, as long as the bears defence is doing its job by putting manning under pressure then they have a good chance of winning and also remeber the arizona game when rex had a bad game and the defence did the job by scoring all td's i think this might happen again against indy, although we all know that the colts arent in the same class as the cardinals
