so are they taking the roof off that bad boy to do the construction...when does that start?

also...are the goin to re-do the seating by the endlines and get rid of the wasted space arcs that are behind the goals? because thats a heck of a lot of seats that could be added in!

R stand for results...that is if you were serious about what R means

RESULTS=R...basically means that if you want to watch a Bremen match on delay...then don't come here because results could be already posted

I think back in December, SportBild had a sketch of what the exterior of the new stadium would look like when it's done. I thought it was great.

Don't know about the interior. One would think they would use all the space possible for seating, but I also think the locker rooms are either at one end or each end of the stadium there.

    Anyone have that info??

The stands inside the stadium would be directly at the pitch. There would actually be less capacity since the curves would dissapear inside. But since the whole stadium will get a third tier the new capacity will be something between 50000 - 52000.

On the outside the shape of the stadium will stay the same but it will be renovated and will get a glass mantle. On top of the 3rd tier the new roof is going to be build. The 4 floodlight poles will dissapear and the lighting will be integrated inside the new roof which will also be partly glass so the sun can still reach the pitch. There are also supposed to be solar energy cells so the stadium can provide its own electricity.

This would cost about 50 Million € and construction work is supposed to start in 08.

Right now Werder is still negotiating with the residents of the surrounding area of the Weserstadion. They criticise that since the stadium is going to be much higher there will be more shadow; That the glass mantle will reflect the sun too much; That the tennis courts would have to be relocated; That there will be more traffic and they doubt that Werder is able to manage that; There are already now too few parking spaces and it's not allowed to build a parking garage next to the stadium since the whole area is a nature protection area.

Werder had a meeting with the residents last week and there will be another one in February. Werder won't make any official announcements until there's an agreement with the residents.

Man. I hope Werder can work around those differences. The way you explain it, it seems that stadium will be wonderful for the club.

It's just that the fans directly under those glass panels in the roof will fry on summer days.

They have that problem in parts of the Nuernberg Frankenstadion. The panels are made to allow the sun to come through, but fans bake during matches at bad times of the day.

It happened to me during a Germany-Czech Republic friendly played there awhile back. I've never sat up there again! LOL!!

Hey footyfan (or anyone else fluent in german), as with the klose link from kicker about the AC Milan Interest, was there a similar statement from Juventus in the kicker article confirming interest for Metzelder?

    News about Ivan Klasnic:

He needs a new kidney.
A "donor kidney" is found, so Ivan will be operated
in the next days. He has to stay then about 2 weeks in hospital
and then need time to get back in form.

Ivan, good blessings for your operation and get well soon.

FYI, the Werder Testspiel against FC Magdeburg (who is playing in the 3rd, league, if I'm not mistaken) will be televised tonight on DSF. The broadcast begins at 18:30, CET. The full info (in German) is on www.dsf.de

I was going to be at this game, but unfortunately there was a mixup with the ticket, so I guess I'll be watching it comfortably from my couch with a nice cold beer instead of in sub-freezing temperatures with a half-frozen beer smoothie. ;)

Rosenborg is class. I'd be very surprised if he didn't make it at Werder, maybe they have no confidence with Hugo?

Seeing that they just let Zidan go to Mainz, I think they just wanted depth. Don't know if it has anything to do with any lack of faith in Almeida.

Yes, but his performances and (partwise) dissapointments
propably have to do with his kidney.
Hope after the operation we see the old Klasnic again.

No, it has to do, as footyfan already said, with depth in squad.
Currently there are only Klose, Almeida and Hunt.
Kevin Schindler (18 years), who made the whole preparation
and scored some goals in test matches, is a big talent,
but young players are often a bit inconsistent.
And Hunt and Almeida are still young, so Werder is looking
for a player with some international experience.

    btw:
The match at Magdeburg ended 3-0 for Werder,
goals by Almeida, Jensen and Schindler.

I'd love to and TOLH and I have brought it to the Mod board, but the traffic has slowed down from last season.....and given us less ammo to demand it. You guys are being beat by the 1860 posters at the moment.
