Has the Crew had a coaching change in the last few days?

There's a story in today's Dispatch naming Robert Warzycha the next head coach of the Crew. Mark M says that he hopes Sigi sticks around for a while though.

Check today's "Rumblings" by Hunter. Pretty sure the comment was in there about Warzycha.

Not to open up a stale can of worms, but is tehre any doubt that if Warzycha was gaining experience as the assistant under any competent coach before (read: Not Andrulis) he would already be the coach?

Still, thats an awful strange thing for McCullers to say to the press. What the hell?

Did Sigi come here on a mercenary mission to turn the Crew around and hand the reigns over to Robert? How long is his contract for anyway? I hope the both stay

This comment from McCullers, along with the fact that Sigi's wife apparently still lives in California sure makes it seem like Sigi isn't planning on sticking around for several years, which is fine as long as everybody involved knows what's going on. I don't think it would be a bad situation at all to have Sigi in here for another season or two to (hopefully) turn things around and then hand the reigns over to Bob, who clearly is committed to Columbus for the long term.

Just because his wife is still in LA doesn't really amount to squat. A good friend of mine had parents that were seperated by jobs for a majority of the year. One was a prof at Lafayette, LA and the other did non-profit work (lot of it soccer related, in fact) and held the home together in Morgantown, WV. So, he only came home during the university vacations.

A lot of players will not play for Sigi. i.e why we are having a tough time getting internationals to come.

John Wagner knows of some discontent with Sigi by some.

I knew an old guy years ago who was the sales rep for some European company for all of the US east of the Mississippi River. He made it home exactly one week every six weeks.

They'd really live it up for a couple of days - fancy dinners, shows, dancing, etc. But he said that by the fourth or fifth day of the one week at home his wife was sick of having him around and he was sick of being there.

They'd been living this way for alomst 20 years and were both perfectly happy. The only thing that scared him was that someday he'd be forced to retire and stay home. He figured they'd be divorced in a month.

    Different strokes.

This is what strikes me, too. What was McCullers thinking? You don't go publically naming your next head coach when you already have one. Bizarre.

Did Sigi sign only a 2 year contract? Maybe Mark is trying to let us know something to quell the unrest among supporters. Not that he is trolling the BS boards all day but I'm sure someone who works in the FO looks at them...

Good generals are wrong 90% of the time, bad generals are wrong 95% of the time.

Any good coach will piss off some good players, a bad coach will piss off all of his players. Compare and contrast Sigi and Steve Sampson.

The answer to the initial question in this thread was Carvacho... I'm surprised the news was kept under wraps by the Crew for so long.
