I didn't want this excellent piece to get lost in the excitement of the logo. Here it is with my new suggestion. I think Franklin's quote from his political cartoon about the 13 colonies "Join, Or Die" would be pretty nice underneath.

See it in Franklin's biography. Maybe we could find something close to that font?

I'm flattered everybody is chipping in. If we pull off half this stuff we will be way ahead of the game.

I really like your update of Uncle Sam propaganda poster.

Why don't we make two banners? I really like the picture of the snake, but we can update it.... Perhaps with counties surrounding the Philadelphia area (Including New Jersey and Delawhere counties).

    EDIT:
Some ideas: PA -- Philadelphia, Bucks County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, Chester County, Lancaster County, Berks County, Lehigh County, North Hampton County
NJ -- Salem County, Glouchester County, Camden County, Cumberland County, Burlington County, Cape May County, Atlantic County
DE -- New Castle County, Kent County, Sussex County

I also really like the quote under Del Rossi's original banner. Something about it makes me want to cheer...

i was thinking the same thing, which is why i posted it. a reverse of that (white on black background) made into a flag for the SoBs would be stunning.

i'm gonna give you some rep, for thinking like me. :p

    -EDIT-

DOH, guess you'll have to take a rain check on that.

When we go to the MLS Cup, we should get a DE, NJ, PA, and Philadelphia flag to wave. I think that'd look cool.

I'll bring the New Jersey flag =)

we'll hang em up on the rail too in front of our section... we can even do county flags and stuff, I'm ashamed to admit that I have a Montgomery County flag in my attic.

maybe this logo needs to have some reference to our soccer support as well?

can ben's right hand/arm be modified so it looks like he's holding a soccer ball up against his thigh (or something similar)? i'm having difficulty finding an image to show what i mean. his left hand can still be rolling up the sleeve and all, but this way it'll look like he's about to run out on the pitch and kick some A.

are you gonna remove the stars from his vest?

and, for soccerprime's sake, where are the bifocals? :p

yah I was gonna do all that (stars and stripes and glasses) and I know that it has to do something with soccer which is why I wanted to know what everyone though of the idea for the official's flag, Ill try the soccer ball when I get home...Im a fan of the quote and the font too but I can understand why others aren't, but we can discuss that further here too...

Maybe a rolled up paper that reads "We the Soccer Nation of Philadelphia" or something to that effect in the same script as Declaration of Independence.

The quotes cool. The font might be hard to read from far away and pose a problem for the banner maker

sorry about blatantly stealing the SOB logo but I needed something to fill that space...and a soccer ball really didnt work there or in his hands so I didnt include it in the photo...

    note the glasses :D

and what do you guys think...should I put 2007 or MMVII? check here for what it might look like

i always picture bifocals being lower on the nose, so he might look less lennon-like if you move them down and show his eyes. and could you make him look less jovial, and maybe have an angrier expression?

i agree that a rifle fits much better than the previous object in his hands, but it doesn't look natural. is there a way to make it more vertical, so it's parallel with his body?

if you do that, you could move the logo (which i think looks a bit out of place floating there) to the SoB banner. i think the text is still a bit difficult to read ... for consistency's sake, would you consider using the same font that's on the logo? but i really dig how the banner itself looks.

i definitely like how it's developing ... keep up the great work.

oh, and how dare you blatantly steal the logo without my permission!!! :p

How about something with Thomas Paine. He was way more influential than the overrated, overdone Ben Franklin. Paine was Irish but that shouldn't matter because ol' Ben wasn't Philadelphian anyway.

He should be. I would expect a fellow H-H grad to know that.

Ben was a ladies man though...the guy had syphilis and couldn't keep it in his pants. Sorry, I just greatly dislike Ben Franklin and this fair city's love affair with him.
