After announcing his retirement from Bayern today, Sebastian Deisler is prime for the taking at only 27 years of age. Now, I know that he retired because he's tired and his knee isn't in the best shape, but in my mind, a move to the MLS could allow him to play some competitive soccer (though not at the highest level), and it would give him a place to regain his form if he ever decided to go back to Bayern. Obviously, I realize this won't happen...but I can dream, I suppose. Anyone else's thoughts?
Wow, retiring at 27? I wonder if he ever considered MLS. Surely with Beckhams announcement he would have had his agent look at possible interested MLS clubs.
I also read in another thread that "Kleivurt" (spellcheck) is also leaving PSV. That would be another good aqcuisition for the team. But of course, I will wake up in 5 minutes
No, we don't need that fatboy. Kluivert was good, very good. Was. Now he's a petulant doughboy. An unfortunate waste of talent.
I say we get Santiago Munez from Newcastle. I mean, this kid went from the Barrio to one of the best teams in England in no time.
Yes I would love to see a german wear dynamo colors how about his german? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ejip2LNIhjU
When someone retires at 27, there's usually a reason. See his five knee surgeries as exhibit A. No. While a nice name, we should not sign someone who may have a chance to actually lose a leg by stepping on the wonderturf of a game in New York
Also, just because the quality isn't up to Euro standards in the MLS doesn't mean it's a "soft" league. The running and tackling in the MLS are definitely not soft. There are still plenty of injuries and I imagine Deisler has his reasons for wanting to be able to walk the rest of his life. It is unfortunate, but soccer (and sport) history is littered with great talent forced to retire early.
Yes...I mean, it's not like I didn't realize this. Also, see his continuing bouts with depression as exhibit B. But when he's healthy, his quality is top notch. I'm not talking about signing him as a long term deal...I'm just saying that I'd be glad to give him a year or two to regain his form. Anyway...as I already stated, it's not going to happen...I was just dreaming.
If we were really dreaming, we'd convince Gooch Onyewu that he doesn't really need to play in Europe, and put him on the back line for $300K, and a beckham style rights and TV shows clause to get him without taking a DP slot Then we sign Christiano Ronaldo! Or we could just have Ballack and Schweinsteiger.
I call my self a " VfB Stuttgart hard core supporter " , hard core , because it takes always some time to win a championship .... Just look @ Offebacher ,he is a real "hard core supporter " hehehehe
Yeah...I can't imagine how tough it must be supporting a team who last won a title in 1992 (that was the last time, right?). But even a Stuttgart fan can get behind the idea of Deisler in a Dynamo uniform, right? Oh...and don't get me started on 1860...we're always having to save their @$$es from bankruptcy...
