is this partially to create salary room to get a player with goggles?

It's because we have better players on the roster than his overpaid arse. Serioux and Moor will be the starters with Yi in the mix.

Brilliant move by Morrow and to me it shows that he was NOT on board with CC's team selection last season. Two of the old, overpaid, underperforming, led the team in minutes played !! players are gone.....well done FCD.....

I agree totally. The two guys that needed to go are now gone. So far so good.

from colorado's point of view...what the heck???...they exposed Ritchie Kotschau to the expansion draft --- where Toronto did take him ---

then, they give up draft picks to acquire a guy, Vanney, who fits the same description --- pretty good left-footed defender, not great, and getting older... one difference being that Vanney's higher paid...

...I don't know nothin' 'bout teams paying the salaries of departed players

ignore this post--- who cares about colorado's point of view!

we just got our roster into better balance and that's way good.

looking forward to Morrow's personnel moves re: attackers

damn that Kotschau ruining our comeback in '05!!!

God, I hope so, because it probably means we still get to keep Super Dario. Yes!

Vanney's a nice guy, but he never really contributed here. Sorry he's going to join up with Pablo and his band of thugs.

...And I've still got my ski goggles ready to go, 'cause I'm going to wear them at every game if Edgar shows up!

Well, here's a Colorado fan point of view. It's slightly less than a complete "WTF" - because well just about anything was an improvement. My understanding is there are some salary considerations as well (who the hell knows what that means) - maybe it is like RSL with Cleetus - where I think they pay 75% of his salary for the next year or two. That wouldnt make a lot of sense for you all, coz it sounds like you are trying to clear space for Edgar Davids.
I think we are losing Karanka on D (basically our only decent defender, except when Pablo plays back), maybe we can lose Petke as well - so who knows - part of me hopes this can endup being a win/win situation but I have some reservations - I'd really like to have a defender or two who move faster than the speed of barbiturated light, but apparently I didnt make it onto Santa's good list this year.
Maybe the trading isn't done - we'll give you Jovan for a couple of those pizza hut pizzas :) Pepperoni please.
See y'all in a couple months - come on up and drink beer with the dicks at the Richard :)
    Cheers,
    Jeff

Vanney isn't a bad player, he is just bad for the money. I think he will pair fine with another good center back who has some speed. In Dallas, he had to cover for Gbandi and Goodson a lot (it got better with Moor). He is solid taking set pieces.

I think he is certainly worth two second round draft picks, you got a lot of value for those picks. However, I don't think salary concerns are included, which is why you got him on the cheap, we were just trying to unload the salary.

Like your attitude. We need to promote more peace and less war between our two sides. And no, we don't want Jovan. Would you like Shaka So-So?

Well, can't beat 'em in the playoffs, so let's go after 'em in the offseason.

Thanks, and good luck with that, Crapids. I can't believe anyone took on that salary, much less that it was them.

Not a bad day to be a FCD supporter.

No thanks on the Hislop offer. I am already dreading/anticipating Bouna-time at the Richard. Heis very "exciting" to watch at the GK position to say the least - I can see more grey and less blonde hair in my future lol.

So far, consensus seems to be that Vanney isnt that bad - but not woth the chunk of payroll on your club. Compared to what we had to work with on our D and the fact that we will have Mr Excitement in goal, any upgrade to the back is a plus for us. Also, it's doubtful that our front office is going to splash teh cash on a big name like a Beckham or Davids (really hope you guys get him, as I like watching him play) - they'll let the novelty of the new stadium suffice to generate some funds I think.

Probably best for us to have given up the draft picks for Vanney - as apparently the draft pickers for the Rapids (I think it was Stevie Wonder) got ahold of some kind bud right before selection time and may have really screwed the pooch on this one (granted - if the kid from Notre Dame does sign an MLS contract it could turn out to be a very good draft for us). We needed scorers and speed and we got - oh hell.

How bout we throw in Gargan w/ Jovan for those pizzas?

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Boy what a great day. Davids and getting rid of Vanney......beautiful. If we can somehow get rid of Hislop, it's an almost perfect offseason.

get a small piece of paper out.....doesn't have to be big at all....the back of a business card, folded in half will do just fine...and count the number of times Vanney crosses the half way line in the run of play.......( a hint: he thinks it's the edge of a cliff)....
