I'm surprised Alfred Karoma was not called for this trip, but of course he might be injured, have school commitments etc. FYI, Gabriel Rivera is a defender, not sure why they list him as a forward.
Barcelona has a defender who was taken onto the '93 team as a forward. Perhaps that is the kid? At any rate, they list the players where they play for the national pool, not where they play at the club level.
Yes, that's him. Interesting. I've heard of forwards on club teams being converted to defender for ODP, but never a defender converted to forward. I just assumed it was a misprint.
Maybe the names are transposed. From a TDS article after Nov. Disney Jr Showcase Tournament: Coach Manny Schellscheidt singled out a handful of players for performing well over the 3 days. It was the defenders on both sides who had really the best weeks here," Schellscheidt said. "You have George (Fradenburg), Walker (Zimmerman) and Gabriel (Rivera), the 3 defenders on one team, then David Caban, Boyd Okwuonu) and Scott Thomsen on the other team. You couldn't really ask for a better group of defenders than those 6 guys right there.
