I think Messi is the better player but you have to remember his size was a reason for him not making the 1st team

Vieira had been playing like shit for several seasons and looking for a move away. Giuly was at the top of his game.

Vieira even said he could have stayed if Arsenal wanted him, and you can tell we need Vieira at the start of last season. And he played average for one season and that is it, when we were unbeaten he played excellent. Also he was the Arsenal captain. Giuly was NOT at the top of his game last season.

I can't believe no one here has mentioned Obafemi Martins, he is 22 and setting the Premiership ablaze with 8 goals so far this season. He is much more dangerous than Podolski who everyone seems to mention.

He is a good player indeed. I always liked him...But ablaze? If thats the case then Ronaldo has burned the skin off the competition.

If you consider that it is his first season in the premiership ( we all know about adjusting " shevechenko" ), he plays for crappy Newcastle, near the bottom of the table, and the fact that he missed Newcastles first 5 or 6 games, being still at Inter, I think his scoring record is quite remarkable

He's doing alright for a newcomer to the league. I forgot how young he was. Though there are rumours about his real age but nothing official.

He could be on the teams. I'd take him as a number 9 over Podolski, but thats because Podolski isnt a true 9.

Well, there's the small matter of Podolski having performed very well at the world cup and playing for Bayern as opposed to Newcastle where Martins plies his trade.

On form, Martins might make the list but based on a larger sample period Martins would be close but just outside of a world u-23 team imo.

He made his Newcastle debut in their second league game. He has 8 goals in 19 games - not a bad return at all for his first season, but certainly not "quite remarkable".

You know what, since that team is shit anyway, I wont even bother to point out the point of the thread. :)

No but seriously, Fabregas as a holding midfielder? Eboue as a centerback?

I've followed martins for a while, and he is a great talent and will prolly become an aweseome player but at the same age I think Torres is more accomplished because he has been a starter for many years now.

I put Taye Taiwo to take up the Nigeria spot so no Martins.
